I had an RT 650. Amazing guitar, wish I'd never sold it now! I've recently been looking to get another but they are quite rare!!

I got this George Lynch LTD for under $500. It's heavy wood to be sure. It's basswood, but a thick slab of it so it has really good sustain. To be sure it's WAY retro, so folks not in to 80's retro guitars will not be interested, but if you are, it's got really nice pickups and the volume knob is push pull to switch pickups. Double locking trem, thin U neck, per george. It's a very good value for money but again, very 80's retro. smile.gif

But if that's not your thing, then I'd say one of the Mid Range Ibby guitars will do nicely wink.gif However, if it were my money, i"d skip buying a new guitar and get a used Ibby that is a bit better than what you get new for 500. For that kind of money, you can get a really nice used ibby with some mileage on it. They have an entire section at REVERB.COM of guitars for under $500

https://reverb.com/handpicked/shredder-guit...der-500-dollars

This MIJ 7620 is listed at $400! It's a 7 string, but there are wads of six strings available. That is a steal on a Made in Japan Ibby7 string.

+1 and probably even harder to find in EU, I came across many old ibanez guitars but don't remember any RT's.

The important thing with such guitars is one must be ready to invest on it after bought, its very realistic to expect a guitar in not so perfect shape. These older guitar do make better candidates for project guitars/extreme renewal but if one doesn't have enough cash to invest then its usually better to get newer used guitars.

I'll stay alert if I find an old cheap Japan Ibbby anytime, at least to try them and see if I like the feel. The idea of modifying it like in the video is great.

Yeah, it needs investment off course, but in many cases you can get a much better guitar with less investment than buying one in good shape which is newer.

Yeah, that's just the 650 models!! The whole range was the 140, 150, 240, 450 and the 650!! Andy Timmons was an Endorsee of the RT until they made his Signature AT Model. The RT's were only made in 1992 and 1993 which is why they are quite rare. they produced the Talman and the Ghostrider models instead.
