> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi again!

This is another great take! For any reason, I feel that the tone fits for this one. Your playing is also top level, I just note again very little timing issues in the fast palm muted power chord riffing. Other than that this is excellent, you are ready for stage!

Congrats mate.

NICE!!! I didn't actually know we had any X JAPAN lessons and I didn't know we had any other X JAPAN fans!!!! I'm a big X JAPAN fan myself smile.gif Are you a fan of the band or was this just a spiff lesson you chose to try? I got so in to the band that I made a short documentary about the tragic death of hide Matsumoto who was in X Japan and who had a solo career as well. When he died, all of Japan mourned. Also, several fans tried to kill themselves. Some actually did kill themselves which is very sad. I'll provide a link to my little doc at the end smile.gif ON TO THE DEBRIEF!!!!

I must agree with GABE. You did a BANG UP JOB on this. The technique is quite good, your palm muting is on point, your pick strikes are clean and clear with no extra string noice, your overall tone fits the bit very well, your aggressive style of play also fits the piece quite well.

In short, you did a really good job on this one. I don't see anything big enough to really complain about on this one. I'd say take your win and pick a harder lesson!!!! Congrats smile.gif

Todd

Here is my hide documentary complete with X japan and Hide Music.

I even went so far as to re edit the video for WEEKEND by Xjapan

Hey there again.....essentially there's nothing to complain here aside from one thing. I think you should skip to a higher level lessons. These ones, with a little more focus engagement, you could probably record at the studio quality level smile.gif

Now the one thing I've mentioned is your vibrato. Try to make it downwards (aside from bent vibrato). Pull the string and release repeatedly. It really helps to make string always go back to it's perfect pitch. The method you are using now, makes you bent the string a little and then add vibrato over already shifted note. This ways it sound a little out of tune. It really makes a difference at the pro level. I know it's a matter of habit and no tip would seem to be better right away. You would need to give it a try for a longer period but it's worth.
