Wow that's lame. Sorry to hear sad.gif Such is life eh? One door closes, another opens as they say. Hopefully another will open soon and you can get a cool amp wink.gif

There's one on sale in a Danish online store. My parents have offered to loan me the difference between the one I was buying and the one in the store. I think I might go for that.

Super congrats again smile.gif Share some pix and vids when it shows up!! Have you worked out a cab or is it part of the deal? The laney 2x12 or 4x12 would work smile.gif Saw lots of vids you shared with folks playing 7 strings on laney amps and they all sounded killer.

Good call! My back is killing me from lugging around a 4x12. Now I use an open back 2x12 and a closed back 2x12.
160 watts? Does the head have a power attenuator? You may want to run that at half power to get the tones you want without being at a volume level that could kill small animals. biggrin.gif

I had the studio head version of that, it was an awesome amp but picked up a lot of interference in my house. I have weird mains.
HEAR IT HERE

I have to say, I did find out later on that my main PC was giving out a lot of rf interference so I got a laptop which helped. I had got rid of the Laney by then, I'd love to try it now. It was a lot more susceptible that the Peavey though but it might have been something I could live with using my laptop.

Okay, maybe bad news. But after I ordered the Laney head and cab from their website, they have completely disappeared from their site. The support couldn't tell me if it was because I ordered the last ones or what it was. Will let me know tomorrow.

What a pain this is turning out to be to get one smile.gif

I'm sure it will be fine. I took it to my friend's guitar shop, when we tried it, zero interference. My mains are shocking.

Amps sound best when they are driven hard, especially tube amps. That "watts" knob looks like it will do the trick. Experiment with that to drive the amp hard at a lower wattage (maybe half power) to get a better tone at lower volumes. A 160 watt amp is gonna be hella loud to get the most out of it, so if you run it at half power you can achieve the same results at a lower and possibly more acceptable volume depending on the venue you are playing at.

Laney is an 80s all tube go to - if it is all tube you will not be disappointed. Set your gain fairly high for the tube growl, and back off the guitar volume knob for your clean tones and you're golden. As a tube head owner, the sweet spot should be set in stone - rely on your guitar's volume knob to get your clean tone and you'll see the light wink.gif

Things have been a bit up and down, as you know, for me, and the other guys in the band have been a bit busy, so we've not really gotten going yet - we also don't have a place to practice. And the other guitarist is leaving come April, which is really not motivating me.
