Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Mixing Different Note Groupings in Soloing by Emir Hot

Hello GMC! First recording served... Should have recorded this lesson months ago, but life was hard... I think I can hear myself rushing ahead of the beat at times, and it seems I strayed from the original "a bit"... The danger of a too long, mindless grind:/

Hey Marek!

Great to see another of your cool takes. Once again you challenge some quite hard lesson.

First thing to notice is your timing - you tend to rush/play in fron of the beat

Second thing is your tone to backingtrack match. This backing track has a lot of midrange. Your scooped tone seems to make unpleasant effect of guitar being loud but not clear. It cuts through the mix with unpleasant 4-6kHz treble, but it's not clear in teh range of note pitch detection. I was trying to listen through a few headphones types and speakers and generally problem is the same everywhere. If you feel you have the tone you like and you don't want to tweak it, you can try to scoop some mids from the backing track. At this point I'm not able to 100% verify your precision.

Aside from above it seems to be a piece of great, ahrd work that needs some polishing. Hope to see you more in REC, as in the past smile.gif

Hi Marek!

As most of Emir's lessons, this is much more difficult than it seems. The main issues have been already commented by Darius. Timing and tone need definitely a tweak on this take.

I would also like to add that I notice hands sync issues when playing the faster passages, and that added to the tone thing makes the faster part unclear. I've seen you playing stuff at this speed with precision so I think that the problem can be related to the quick rhythm changes that the lesson introduces. So in this case, I won't recommend isolating the faster parts, I think that you need to isolate both the fast part and the slower parts around it.

This lesson is very helpful, so please take your time to master it.

Keep on the hard work.

Nice - I can def see you have worked hard on this one!

There are some things that need improvement to make this one truly enjoyable.

I agree about tone and timing. My biggest issue however, is hand sync in your picking runs. Almost for every run you miss - or rather sync badly - the beginning of the run. Eventually your hands catch up - until the next run starts.

This shows that your mind and body knows what a synced run is - but you need much more control over it.

I would practice picking speed bursts to solve this issue (we have lessons covering it) - and also practice super slow picking.

Since this one is all about conveying technical command over complex runs - you get a 5 from me. As soon as you improve your syncing this one will sound much better. Keep up the hard work!
