The vocalist works in a musicstore I regularly visit and a guitar player is a local guitar teacher.

It reflects an anger to uncivilized and violent people (who also hurt street animals).

Very cool smile.gif I can't understand why anyone would hurt a street animal. Talk about abusive. They are the most vulnerable creatures out there. Pets with no home. You'd have to be twisted to make their lives worse. sad.gif

Cool! Your friends are very talented. The singer has a powerful voice and the guitarist rocks hard.

All the best to them!

The guitar player does a lot of volunteer work.

He helped a song that was sung by mentally challenged kids, gave a concert in a cafe where the enterence fee was cat food... smile.gif He also made a special cage in his house for wounded crows, Once I found a wounded one and he drove a long way to take and cure it at home. From his youtube channel;

Unfortunatly we probably have more street animals than most countrys when compared. There's even a famous documentary about cats in Istanbul;

I'm more of a care taker than an animal rights defender cause to be honest the things I hear happening to those animals are very nerve wrecking (stuff that shouldn't be mentioned on public forums...). The laws to protect them are far from complete and the punishments are very light. But the people who defend them also learned to be tough so its more of a challenge here to save as many as possible.

Very cool guy smile.gif I saw a bit on the news that Turkey has wads of "Street cats" why are there so many wild felines? Did they used to have homes? We have "Dog Catchers" that round up stray pets and put them in the 'Dog Pound" where folks can adopt them. It's not a great place but it keeps them out of the cold and they get fed. Every county in every state in the union has their own place like this so we don't have that many wild dogs/cats. Does turkey not have a similar institution?

Until around 2000's there was nothing done for them, after that its sort of a copy of USA but has gaps and not strickt policy.

There are shelters for cats and dogs, they aren't put to sleep there but its not a good environment. Aside that, if the cat/dog is nutered (free at city vet.s) they are marked (small cut on cat's ear, an earing on dog) and can live on the streets. They're only picked up if someone files a complaint.

It's also very hard too keep under control. The math is 2 cats may cause 65000 cats in 5 years.

I think I see the issue. so the animals are never put down even if they don't get adopted, they are just put back on the street? Is there a political reason that none of them are ever euthanized in the dog pound? Here, after a certain amount of time, if nobody comes to claim the animal, they are euthanized (e.g killed) which keeps the numbers low and prevents them from over breadding and becoming a larger issue. I could not work at one of these places having to watch that many animals killed.
