As I'd had the blues about my playing recently, see HERE and the fact that my mojo is coming back, I had a go at jamming over this beautiful track in SRV style in B minor.

I thought I'd share it wink.gif The backing track, not my improv tongue.gif

Enjoy

Very handy having the scale shapes on the vid! Until one gets the layout of pentatonic shapes and how they repeat, it's a great visual cue. Once you get that you just move the root to they "Key" of the song, it does get easier and once you get how these connect you can make long fun runs and such. This scale is the foundation of improv imho. Sort of like learning a foreign language. The others are not as bad once you get the first one down in many cases. smile.gif

OK,

This is pretty poor but what the hell. I tried to experiment with dynamics like SRV does. Struggling to come up with ideas, maybe tomorrow will be different and my head will be full of them smile.gif

So come on folks, students, instructors and all of those in the shadows, put your ideas down. There are no bad ideas, they can all spark some good things. Here is a story of a bloke I used to know, he was a carpet designer. He told me that in the studio they used to get a huge sheet of paper like the size you see behind people in photo shoots. The literally used to throw eggs, flour, paint, mud, glitter, anything they could find at this paper. It all looked rubbish, but then someone would spot something, a fragment of a shape within a shape and it would ignite an idea in their head, that little tiny piece of pattern could turn into an award winning carpet design.

So come on, what do you say? Let's put our ideas down here with this one and we can all feed off each other and put more ideas in. WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE ONLY CREATIVITY TO GAIN smile.gif

I've created an MP3 from the YouTube video, you can download it from my One Drive account here >>>> https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ap09zsLCowi5iLdGj5XoYM8OQm7nAA <<<< so you have no excuse wink.gif

It's not poor at all!! This is GREAT Phil. The quality of this improvisation is very good. I love your tone, dynaimcs, and the overall feel of this. This reminds me to our old "Creativity Workout" thread in which you've created amazing pieces of music. Congrats my friend!
