Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

DOUBLE WOW. This is a very complex bit to be in the starter section IMHO. I'd struggle a bit to play this. The overlapping fretting, the huge fret jumps, the tight note groupings, the lack of any space to catch your breath. This is a tough piece. The good news is that it's just met it's match from a certain Greek we call THE SPARTAN!!!!

This really does put all your techniques to the test. If your muting was off, string noise would just be rampant. It would be unbearable. Fortunately, your Muting Kung Fu is strong. No string noise to speak of smile.gif Your Picking Precision is put to the test here as well. If you miss one pick strike, you'd have to start over. It would be too obvious that you missed one. Nope, never missed. If your hand synch was off and you were striking/fretting out of synch, again it would fall apart. Thankfully, hand synch was tight. smile.gif This one is really a capstone IMHO as it combines so many things in to one REC. You rose to the challenge quite well.

Solid 7 from me!!

Todd

Hi George!!

This is awesome! You Sweep Picking technique is sounding very smooth mate. Everything sounds clean and tight with the beat here. It's awesome to see how natural this technique looks in your right hand man. There is nothing to fix.

Your left hand looks a bit less comfortable with the fingering and shapes, so it's not a bad idea to continue playing this one, or maybe working on new sweep picking lessons in order to get used to this kind of arpeggios played with sweep.

I love your energy mate, keep all these REC takes coming!!

This lesson is very tricky. Playing sweeps at medium speed is very hard timing-wise. You did a realy great work here even if there are still some timing issues, they are very little. You have some problems to reach notes through long slides. Also....make sure you really make a sweep motion - problem with this speed is that it allows pick jumping and this is not necessary how a slow sweep should look like. I was watching very carefully and at some points I have a little doubts about your way of sweep execution but...this is just a guess not a complain. Maybe a left hand view from the angle could help judge this but if you ever decide to make a take please just make and additional agle just to make sure I could have a good reference smile.gif
