I don't listen to this style very often but I'm always amazed of Dimu Borgir overall production. They are coming to Buenos Aires soon so I'll have to go. I've done a quick check and it seems that your analysis is good. Let me know if you have any specific question about it. Regarding modulation, in this cases, it's usually a "jump" from one key to the other, mostly to generate an impact in the listener. If you like the effects that they create I recommend you to check the distance between one key and the other (you can use intervals to measure the distance). Yes, Dimmu Borgir is simply amazing, it's a shame they did not come to Portugal for so many years, I've never seen them live and they're from my favorite bands .... The part that is smeared yellow at the end of the first part, I think it's the cadence that does the modulation. I know that composers often do not think about theory when they are composing and then other musicians try to find a way to explain music from a theoretical point of view! Although I can adapt (analyzing the intervals as you said) to a song of mine , for me it becomes clearer when I perceive the theory behind the music. I've heard of chords like the N6, It6 +, Fr6 + and Ger6 +, I know how they form but I've never actually used them in a song, at least consciously, and sometimes when I'm analyzing songs where I do not understand where these modulations come to think that maybe it is the use of some chord of these or others that I do not know. By the way, I'd like to tell you that I'm still working on the excercises you sent me right back to the GMC. At the moment I stopped doing almost everything I was doing and concentrated only on the Alternate Picking exercise to try to reach the desired speed once and for all but it is not easy. I think these exercises are a few steps above my current level of ability and I'm actually starting to get a little frustrated. I will continue to practice the AP exercise for some more time to see if I get there, but if I do not get it in a while I think we should reformulate our approach and try to do this in a more gradual way. I'm only working on the fastest part of the AP exercise, the part where you have 16th note triplets! I will continue to work on this part for a little longer to try to reach 110 BPM. I already posted some videos of this exercise for you to see and correct, at the last you said that I was doing everything well and that it was a matter of practicing that I will eventually get there. Since I was not achieving the desired speed in the exercises you gave me, I decided to take a few more accessible exercises. I do not like to leave things in the middle but I was becoming unmotivated. We have a lot of exercises here at the GMC for all degrees of difficulty and I believe the key to staying motivated is to take on exercises that are challenging but tangible.
