I've found over the years that most tone comes from the fingers. My current axes have stock pickups. I did try wads of pickups over the years as trying new gear isi always fun smile.gif Love to hear your brothers work! Share some links!

I gave up on the Hum-Becker! I can spend these money to get a proper recording rig and as for pups, I ordered a pair of Asian PAFs to swap with mine PAFs, mostly out of curiosity because these had reviews putting them in a better place than some 250$ pups. They may be made by the manufacturer who produces them for Duesenberg. I just want a warm sound with clarity and not too much of mids and these seem to just do that. The coils are open, so I'll have a chance to compare these with Wilkinson's boxed pair. It's cheaper to buy directly from the manufacturer but I'll wait a month or two for it to arrive, so this may be a self-gift for Christmas smile.gif

My brother released two albums, sadly in Polish, but they are described as doom neo-folk. I've never heard about such genre but it sounds both interesting and depressing. I can share them here, if you don't mind the language, when I come home from work.

Well fought Soldier! This one is a rough one to be sure. Long stretch, complicated picking, back and forth inside the patterns, it's' all there. This is a full on 100 plus mission.

Let's Debrief!

MEDALS OF HONOR

REACH FOR IT:
This one requires that you use your stretch to maximum effect. You did a great job of this. NICE!

PINKY POWER: Without pinky power, this mission is impossible. You have developed your pinky quite a bit and it's serving you well!

THUMBLESS:
Playing without the thumb on the neck is not something everyone can do. You do it quite well! I've seen it add to your technique and ability. SCORE!!

You earned it on this one Soldier! Nothing easy about any of this. I see you powering through it!!!

You just..

LEVELED UP!!!

This is a tricky one to be sure. It's meant to be a finger twister. You are playing it smoothly and at speed which is most impressive. This lick is like a looping puzzle box. Mix one step, it falls apart. You didn't miss a beat. I can tell that you put time in to it. It's well worth it. Being able to learn and play complex licks like this will serve you well on your journey!!

This is quite well played. Impressive work!! As for replaying a quick lick or mission, please feel free! If you have been badged, you won't be rebadged but I will give you feedback on the piece.

Blood, sweat and tears. Well, not exactly but close. After about 2 hours of recording session I did a clean run. At first, I felt my endurance being put to test. Left hand was uncomfortable until I got used to it, much later. I probably should take a break or two and cool down a bit but I had quite a nice streak there. THough, later I started feeling frustrated a bit and started making silly mistakes. The worst were those when my finger slipped at the last two notes, literally.

Nobody said it would be a milk run but that's how it works. Here's mission 10:

PS.
I tried playing a few parts of Stream of Consciousness and there's this main riff where the fingers cover 2 notes across half the fretboard. After a warm-up and a moment of practice, I got it! It's more extreme stretching than Arpeggios From Hell! I can't play this progression smoothly but I can play the separate chords relatively clean! smile.gif

PS2.
I also browsed Quick Licks section and I decided to give it a try when I have a moment. Is it okay if I do each one twice: once just to play it properly and twice in higher tempo after a few months of progress? I think they are only graded once, so I'm asking if you could make an exception in my case?

I will get to replaying soon. I'm lately a walking zombie with barely enough sleep to let me somehow functional.

The super-stretchy part was really hard to do, no matter how long I practiced.

Well Fought Soldier!!! This one is a TORTURE TEST for your PINKY!!! it's not very musical, but it's a great workout for your stretch!! I see you taking full advantage of your thumbless technique!! Good call. let's Debrief!!
MEDALS OF HONOR

*THUMBLESSNESS NEXT TO GODLINESS A tricky technique to get used to but it pays off on licks that would normally be just impossible to play. Part of this Mission's purpose is to push your reach to it's limit. Without Thumbless techique, it's almost impossible to play.

*TRICKY BITS You may recognize my favorite "SCALE INVERSION" shape going on here. It's just not in the form of a real scale so it's ATONAL. This can throw the ear off, making
it tricky to play to completion. Didn't slow you down at all!

*CONSISTENT TO THE END Despite the difficulty, you push through and make this your own! I can see you earning it!!! That's the key, more than anything else. The ability to push throughwhen things get tough.

Well Fought Soldier!! You just..
LEVELED UP!!!!!!
*You are still our TOP DAWWWG!!!!

Well Fought Soldier! This is yet another tough one. It's taking all of your skills and putting them to good use. Let's Debrief!
MEDALS OF HONOR

THUMBLESS CONTINUES:
You continue to make great use of the Thumbless technique. It's letting you reach things that may have seemed unreachable in the past. It's a great way to maximize your reach. Keep it up!
COMBO DRILLS: You may have noticed some of these are different descending than they are ascending. THis is yet another way to challenge your hand. You handle it quite well.

WHEN PINKY FINGERS KILL Great use of the pinky here as well. Without it, the stretchy licks are nearly impossible to play. You have gotten great control over your pinky! Nice.

In other words you just...
LEVELED UP!!!
*You are still the Top Dawg. Nobody has ever gotten this far!

I feel like at this point it's impossible to keep going without the Thumbless technique.

I had no idea how would I combine AP and Hammering in the last one, I hope what I did turns out good enough!

Well Fought Soldier!!!! Yet another one tricky one. It's all there, picking, crazy stretch, thumbless, allo in one mission. This is why it's so important to do these Missions in sequence. They each build on each other. If you would have, for example, skipped learning thumbless when it came up, or skipped on working the pinky stretch, playing this mission would not be possible. Well done!
Let's Debrief!!
MEDALS OF HONOR

THUMBLESS Yet again the thumbless technique comes shining through. Well done on putting it to good use. Try to use it when you are improving a solo and it will allow you a great deal of reach!

CRAZY STRETCH Also yet again, here we have a really crazy pinky reach/stretch later in the Mission and you nail it!! You stick the landing and you make the stretch and don't lose your timing! Well done on that!

CRITICAL BITS The last few riffs in this mission are critically important. You may recognize these licks. They have appeared before in various shapes and sizes. In the picked version, it's the ability to pick twice on one string, then pick twice on the next string that is the basis of the lick. The left hand then can do it's own thing. It's really the picking pattern that is important as it's one thing that does not change in these licks.

You did great on these. Keep it up!!
You just..

Another Mission under your belt Soldier!!! Yet again I've thrown the gauntlet down and you have taken the challenge.

Let's Debrief!
MEDALS OF HONOR

DOUBLE PICKING INSANITY Nicely done on the double picking! it's the first thing I'm looking for in this Mission. If the double picking is bad, it's a failed mission. Your double picking is spot on! Well paced and well played.

PATTERN RECOGNITION This one has my favorite pattern. The Inversion! So secondly I want to see perfect hand synch. BAM Sorted!! You have lots of experience with this lick and you play it well.
OPEN STRING MADNESS Open string licks are just begging for string noise. I thought I'd throw some open string work in as a contrast to the rest of the closed fret licks. You have no problem going in between them. Nice!!
You got this one Soldier you are ready for what's next!!! You are also getting close to Mission 151 which is yet another badge that nobody has EVER SEEN, as I've never given one out smile.gif

As for this you just....
LEVELED UP!!!!

Do you know any platform I could use, other than Youtube to post my videos? I'm irritated, to put it lightly, at what is happening there right now with that COPPA thing. I checked the box saying my whole channel isn't for kids, though there was an option "I want to revise it for every vid", and yet I get that thing to check. Youtube is getting too political, and some more important stuff takes more time to set up because COPPA gets all the attention.

I agree it's irritating. Sadly no, there is no other option currently supported for embedding. That being said, you could always try vimeo.com they used to be free but now I think they charge. I dont think the videos will embed here but you could just use a link I suppose. With youtube, They are just trying to comply with various laws about protecting children and such but it becomes a pain for regular people who are making vids. Thankfully it's just an extra click or two here and there. I do hope it's not permanent as laws change all the time.

On to the Debrief!!
MEDALS OF HONOR
SERIOUS REACH This first one requires so much reach that it's actually nearly impossible to play. Good job on putting thumbless technique to use here!
TRICKY BITS Well done on the back and forth bits as well. I have throw a bit of tricky stuff in for good measure! Although, it doesn't seem to trick you at all!
SMOOTH AS GLASS It's often tempting to rush or lag when some bits are easier and some are harder, you don't fall for it. You play smooth as glass the entire time.
You got this one Soldier. You are making great progress. Keep it up!!!

You just..
LEVELED UP!!!

Just a little more of a stretch and I think my hand would fall off. I hope it doesn't go too far beyond that.

Edit: thanks to Black Friday, I was able to get Mesa tube at -33% smile.gif I have no idea if it makes any difference from Joyo stock tube but I wanted to try it just for once.

Mesa makes killer stuff. Their tubes are top quality. They don't built the tubes themselves from what I gather but instead pick a top quality vendor and rebrand them. Rumor has it that they have used everything from JJ tubes to SOVTEK tubes over the years. They never use the cheap stuff as far as I can tell. So should sound better than whatever came stock in unit!! A bit more warmth a bit more drive. Happy Black Friday!

Let's Debrief!

MEDALS OF HONOR
STRETCH OF DEATH This entire Mission is about working your stretch. You did a great job of it and make good use of the thumbless technique! Without it, some stretches would not be possible. Score!
MULTI PICKING FROM HELL Wads of multi picking here just to test your endurance and your endurance is doing just fine!!! NICE

ASYMMETRIC SHAPES Some of these patterns require different things on different strings, making them really tough. It didn't slow you down a bit! DOUBLE SCORE!
In short, you Killed it Soldier! You are ready for what lies ahead!
You just ...

NICE!!! This one is all about tapping/hammering. Not just the VanHalen type, but much more technical. You did well Soldier, let's debrief!
MEDALS OF HONOR
TAPPING FROM HELL This is not your uncles two finger tap. We are using multiple fingers and sometimes using only one hand to do all the work. You adapt well, NICE!
OPEN STRING HELL Open String licks are always tricky. This one has a tapping lick with 3 fingers marching all the way up the neck. No trouble for you ! SCORE!
STRETCH HELL Great use of the pinky! These looks don't work that well with the first 3 fingers so great to see you using the weakest finger! DOUBLE SCORE! You fought well Soldier and

Well Fought Soldier!!! You may have noticed that I'm starting to combine things from various bits that we learned along the way. These all build on each other so that's why it's important to do them in order. Also, I noticed that you didn't seem to have to struggle at all with these. I'd say you are ready to start pushing the speed a bit. Never a requirement for speed in bootcamp but I sense that you have more under the hood that you are actually showing. Go ahead and push it a little bit. You are ready. As the only person ever to make it this far, you have the basics down. The time has come for you to push your envelope!
let's Debrief!!
MEDALS OF HONOR

STRETCHY Yet again great job on the THUMBLESS. It really is the secret sauce to playing stretchy licks. It's too bad more people don't know about it! Then again I've shared it with some very experience players who simply could not do it. Once the hand gets used to having that thumb on the neck, some folks can't unlearn it. No problem here!

BACK AND FORTH WITH GRACE AND STYLE Also yet again with the back and forth. It's a great way to get the fingers confused and a lesser player would stumble over these types of licks. You seem to have Zero problem at all. Nice.

INVERSION PLUS I LOVE inversion licks and now I'm throwing partial inversions in with licks. This really messes some players up badly. Not you. SCORE!!! In short, you are killing it here in the deep weeds past Mission 100. I really didn't know what would happen when students made it this far. As you are the only one ever, so far I'd say it's going great!!!
You just...

LEVELED UP!!!!!
