THERE IS NO SPEED REQUIREMENT IN QUICK LICKS. PLAY THIS AT ANY SPEED YOU LIKE.
This lick features "SYMMETRICAL" shapes, e.g. it's the same exact shape on each string to allow you to focus on traversing up the strings and to focus on your picking. You may use any picking method you like. This is just 3 notes on 3 strings. Same 3 notes each string. It looks simple enough. When you play it, you may notice that it feels like trying to swim upstream. Playing this note pattern is quite a challenge to do with precision even though it's a very simple shape. It's a great way to work on your picking. If you are not happy with your picking, this is the drill for you.

*NOTE: Keep it smooth and under control. If you find you are losing control, slow down just a pinch. If you want to add one take where you are pushing the edge for speed and get a bit wonky, that's perfectly fine.

NICE!! About 20 seconds in you really hit a good stride. This lick is flat out hard when it starts the descending bit. It seems like it should be easy. It's just not. The finger shape is simple. It's the picking that's so freaking tricky. Going down the strings, the picking hand easily starts to get a bit lost as to whether it should be doing upstrokes going down the strings, or down strokes going back down. It's easy to miss a note or few until the hand get's used to it. I'm really impressed that you are able to play this at this speed with this degree of fluidity. I didn't expect this much precision / speed on this lick as it's just hard to play and keep clean. Heck, I have a hard time keeping it clean and had to record it several times to get a good take to use as the intro/outro for the vid. It's fine when done slower, but push the speed a bit and it starts feeling like "rubber baby buggy bumpers" said 5 times fast but for your fingers smile.gif Well played! You just..

Nicely done!! This is a great lick to work on hand synch. You can run this from the lowest string to the highest. You can clearly shred this. Try it slowly as well to make sure you are getting each strike correct. It's easy to miss a strike here and there when playing at speed. During a guitar solo, missing a strike or two probably won't even show up on a track. However, being able to control every single strike, even at speed, is path to greatness imho smile.gif Well played!! You just..

This is pretty darn amazing. I've not seen it run this briskly with this level of precision. YOu could easily run this through every string at pace from the look of it. It's meant to introduce peoples hands to shredding. Your hands are clearly old friends with shredding. smile.gif

You just..
