Let's continue our work on tapping. This is a five note per string tap. It uses the open string as the fifth note. It's important to pull off each time you move the left hand to the next note. A five note tap may seem tough at first, but it's really quite simple. Just play one note at a time. Here is the tablature and Video.

I think you may have uploaded the wrong vid? This one uses 3 fingers on the left hand. Thus the FIVE NOTES PER STRING, One on the right, 3 on the left, and one open string. The last Quick Licks was to prepare you for this one. Add one more finger and bam!!

BINGO! This is a FIVE NOTE PER STRING TAPPING DRILL ( 5NPS ). I"ve been building up the difficulty over the last several drills to lead you to this point. Playing a 5NPS tapping drill is no small feat. It takes a lot of finger control. Many folks really struggle to play these types of drills. Using the OPEN string as one of the notes takes it from the EVH type tapping in to the Steve Vai type tapping.

I think you have a good handle on in except for one thing. Your right hand strike is a bit weak and slightly problematic. The first strike is in fact TWO NOTES. There is the initial STRIKE tap and when you pull that strike off, you get to hear the second note. So the first tap is really two notes, the initial Strike and Pull off. Then you pull off the next finger for the next note, and so forth until you pull to the open string.

Your right hand strike is a bit weaker than I'd like to see it be. This is quite normal in fact as getting the first finger used to taking the leads rle in this type of lick is just flat out hard. It takes practice. The good news is you have the fundamentals down. With some repetition, you can be adding 5NPS tapping licks to your solos and making them really stand out. In short you just...
LEVELED UP!!!

You still remain our TOP DAWG on Quick Licks!!! CONGRATS!!!!!
