Gutted these are stopping, they've really helped me with my picking and hand sync. Also my ocd doesn't like them stopping at 117, I could probably handle 120 but 117? que sera sera
I'll be posting on Monday buddy. Cheers Phil This post has been edited by Phil66: Feb 2 2020, 11:19 AM -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. I know what you're saying buddy, I'm just a bit peeved because I put a lot of time and effort in to catch up on about fifty of the Quick Licks that I hadn't done so that I was on top of them and could just do one a week from now on, leaving me time to do Bootcamp and my work with Gab then they go and stop

Adios to the Todd 'Quick Licks' series.
I will go out in grand style. Not only making a chord progression backing track to play it over but adding an upper harmony part late 70s or 80s power pop style. The Knack meets the Cars. Big pinky stretch on the high harmony part. I probably couldn't have done it if some of the previous QLs didn't employ it. Thanks Todd! *Go Kansas City! Nice work Ken, one day I hope to be able to understand enough to put together a progression and play a QL or Bootcamp over it. Thanks for the inspiration

Thanks guys.
@Phil ... most of these licks are short enough to be in one key. They are also meant to be repetitive. Find the key of the lick and try a major chord, minor chord or a power chord. One or all will work as "home". Then just move that same shape of chord down two frets then down five frets. For example in this lick 117 use D to C to G then back to D or try D to Em to A to G. You really don't need "theory" for this. Just experiment. Record the lick and loop it. Play chords behind it and see what works. That's pretty much the way everyone does it, at least to start. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

You really don't need "theory" for this. Just experiment. Thanks Ken, trust me, I need to know in my head because my ear won't tell me, I'll end up playing three chords from totally the wrong key and it would sound okay to me. Maybe I overcomplicate things. Going out in Style!! NICE AXE!!! I love crackle finishes. Timeless IMHO!!! You have made a LOT of progress very rapidly in doing all these quick licks. I think it will serve you very well in BOOTCAMP!!!! You are ready to make the switch from being graded lightly here in Quick Licks to being Graded under a microscope in BOOTCAMP!!! This is very well played and you nail the pinky bit which is very impressive! this is not an easy lick for folks who don't use their pinky often enough. You killed it!!
I think you will also gain more theory knowledge as you progress in bootcamp. There are a few capstone Missions where you have to improvise a solo for example. Also, you can take any Mission in Bootcamp and play it over a musical backing instead of a click track. You can practice creating a musical backing if you like To get more practice in learning the relationship between a lick and a rythm bit that goes with it. As for this one. You are still our TOP DAWG and retain the STAR OF HONOR!!! Well done Phil!! You just.. LEVLELED UP!!! Nice work Ken, one day I hope to be able to understand enough to put together a progression and play a QL or Bootcamp over it. Thanks for the inspiration
