I noticed that Nick Johnston's album is one of the few instrumental albums that I can listen over and over. I love every bit of songs like this one...

Today, I was listening to this song again, and I read this comment:

"Nick Johnston tunes always sound really familiar. Like I've heard it a long time ago, but then forgotten it. Brings back memories that don't exist. Weird."

It's exactly what I feel... does this happen to you with any artist or song?

I'm not sure I recognize the feeling, but maybe. It's a wonderful album though. I really like it smile.gif

I think "the secret" is more about the backing then his solo'ing.

Love Nick's music.
I kinda get thoae feelings when the theme kixks in at 3:30

Not guitar oriented, but this does one the trick for me.

I agree with mertay,. I think more often than not is the background harmony, the way they voice of the chords that helps to create that mood. Especially with the piano.
A sweet melody over it, its like a cherry on the top.

It's a proven fact that guitar faces have a bigger impact on tone than wood does.

That was amazing. I can't say I've heard of him before but no I"m an instant fan! One other player who gives me that vibe of playing things I've probably just forgotten, is Rick Graham

Yes, it happens to me.
It's happening with power metal choruses:

Great one! I've discovered this one some days ago. But I've been listening to this album since it came out. It's addictive for me.

I'm listening to the backing now... it's true that I have a very similar feeling, even without the lead guitar. The arrangement is brilliant, and everything sounds tasty.

The drummer that recorded this one is among my favorites.

Rick is also very inspiring. He is a beast technically, but he can also compose beautiful music.

This tune is beautiful:

Agreed on Helloween! Some of the best chorus section in METAL imho. To wit!
