Question I Hope Someone Can Answer |
My stratocaster is almost 10 years old now and it's starting to get a few little dings in the fret's .I have heard all kinds of different comments when it comes to this issue everything from ''It's cheaper to buy a new neck '' to ''buying a fret polish or refinishing kit'' which are avalible on Ebay |

I don't know about just buying a new neck. I know when the time comes and my baby needs new frets I will have it refretted by the best Luthier I can find.
As for knowing WHEN they need it... that is a darn good question... anyone know? You may not need a full re-fret - that tends to be for extreme wear.
I just had a guitar (my custom) in for a fret dress and recrown, plus some other bits (new capacitor on the tone circuit and so on) and the total cost here was 90Euros. That was the charge from a local extremely talented luthier. My custom was made in the late 80s so the frets have had some abuse.
