I must agree with Muris on this one. Shred is not about how many notes you can cram in, within as little time as possible, thats not even music really.

I think someone playing a melodic passage with great phrasing, sense of melodic shape, left to right hand coordination etc at 150bpm semiquavers, is far more worthy of the shred title than someone blitzing out at 200bpm in a boring scalic manner.
Anyone agree?

I utterly do. My goal is to reach about 140/150 bps sometime. I would be more than happy if I get there someday.

holy crap you can play 16th notes at 170 bpm after one year?
what are you playing, lke is it really difficult or chromatic scale or...?
