These are 10 free plugins that I have not seen shared before. I thought I’d share a bit about each. To wit!!

Fast and easy saturation plugin. It’s quick and dirty to use but it’s got deeper controls available if you want them. It will let you oversample the signal which can be helpful in saturation. You can also increase the number of emulated stages/tubes to increase saturation. In addition you can add “fluctuation” which creates variation and prevents it sounding too perfect. You can even adjust even and odd harmonics if you want to.

Also a saturation tool but can go to a way more aggressive level. It will BURY you, thus Burier which is an audio word play on Barrier, clever eh? You can cut the lows and the highs and control the mix of effected/clean signal. It’s not modeled after any specific piece of gear and it’s pretty simple to use. It’s not a technical looking interface to be sure. Just a few knobs and a couple of switches.

If you want a great free reverb plugin with some interesting bits, this is for you. This is not a standard reverb but it’s a lot of fun. You can use it to design your own custom reverb algo using your mouse. If you’ve never made your own reverb algo, it’s fun. You can see how the numbers impact the sound. This is NOT a real time thing. It’s also very cpu intensive. Still, the price is right and experimentation is always fun.

Everyone could use a bit more phase control in their lives. The fine folks at Melda Production have your back. It’s a phase control tool that allows you to draw in a control algo using your mouse. Experimentation is again your friend here. It can yield some very strange and interesting results.

These folks make a great keyboard plugin that features this fx bank. This is the fx section by itself. It’s basically a multi fx plugin. Each effect can tweaked and there are several to choose from. The amount of tweakability is actually mind bending. It can be overwhelming. Don’t get lost in it. Change some knobs and see what works and what doesn’t.

The air windows plugins live inside the the surge fx bank. So you get a bunch more functionality from the surge bank in that the air windows plugins live inside of it.

This is basically a NEVE inspire3d channel strip. For those who dont know, NEVE channel strip plugins can cost quite a bit of money. Not so here as this one is free. It’s NOT a neve product but is inspired by them so it takes a similar approach. You can use this on each channel of a given mix or use it on your mix bus or both. It sounds best when tweaked so dive in an start tweaking!!

This is a plugin with 11 different emulations of various analogue gear. Some of them are preamp emulations. In general, it’s useful for making samples come alive and adding flavor to a drum bus or vocal. You can add it to every track or the bus and it will add some life. Try it on just about everything. The key again is experimentation, as with many free plugins sometimes the best results are those you come up with yourself outside of any available preset.

This is a very handy reverb/delay plugin that rewards you for taking a gamble. The way the interface is setup, you click on a single die and just hope for the best. The bad news is that you are not really in control on this one. You are hitting a randomizer. Also, there is no way to save a given preset. Clearly some limited functionality here but some surprises as well.

Everyone has heard of Amplitube by now hopefully. The good news is that you get 9 stomps and 4 amps with mics/etc that are all free and ready to use. It can run stand alone or in your daw. If you are new to guitar plugins, this is a great way to start. It’s purely free and you can add other bits as you want along the way. It’s a great way to get used to working with a guitar plugin as part of your production process. After you get comfy, then of course you can upgrade to overloud THU. smile.gif
