i have the line 6 toneport gx and been looking at other line 6 products like the toneport ux2 and rifftracker. i like the toneport ux2 becuase u can record everything guitar, drums, bass, and vocals. i think you can do the same thing with rifftracker but i like rifftracker better becuase it has an instant drummer software but you can only record small parts at a time so it can be a pain putting it all together.

so now onto my question i think i might stick with my toneport gx and get the riffworks software which comes with the rifftracker or get ez drummer which is better then the samples they give you in riffworks. so my question is does anybody have rifftracker or riffworks? and is it good?

Hey Nick,

To be honest with you Riffworks / Rifftracker isn't ideal. I got a free copy with a Guitar Port I bought
and wasn't impressed with it. Basically it just uses a series of drum loops, yeah its great
for the first few days cause you are jamming away with a virtual drummer but the novelty
wears off in no time. If you are comfortable with what you have I would stick with it.

There are also alternatives like Cubase SX with Grooveagent?. Grooveagent is ***hot - has numerous
styles of drum loops right back to the 1950's etc. I think Line 6 really rushed Rifftracker.

Hope this helps in some way....

Regards,
Barry

Forgot to mention as far as recording goes its a bit crap too. I have a Pentuim D 3.4Ghz processor
with 3GB of ram and the software was constantly crashing and took ages to start etc. Riffworks is a
useful tool for beginner PC recording enthusiasts that basically want to record Guitar, Bass tracks etc.
Its not something that you can keep for life nor would I be trying to record demos on it.

Invest that money on a decent sequencer, Cubase, Pro Tools, Albeton Live etc, which you can expand
over time.

Barry.
