Ever since The GMC was down for the 2 days, none of the videos have been loading at all for me. Some play 2 seconds but than just stops playing. Any ide why this is?

I havent had any problems either so I think it might just be you. What I suggest is that you download Mozilla Firefox and use that because Internet explorer is rubbish.... I havent used AOL though but it sounds like a rubbish browser too...

IE is not rubbish. I have always used it. And it has been very good to me. It must be you!!

It has very bad security compared to Firefox... so its rubbish..

Also I remember reading quite awhile ago that the american homeland security reccomended people uninstall IE and get Mozilla (which isnt possible because microsoft are scum)

But ontop of the security issues with IE mozilla is just more convienent and usuable.

It is possible to uninstall Explorer but it is not advisable. Have a look at this if you want more details.

I leave Explorer on my pc for the Windows updates (and lets face it - Windows is continually being patched so this is important) but use Firefox 2 as my main browser.

As to vulnerability - any complicated program is vulnerable. Explorer gets a lot of attention: partly because of its embedded and near ubiquitous nature as a nearly integrated fully browser with the o/s; partly because it has had some rather critical security lapses (and to be fair to MS they do deal with them pretty quickly); partly because the open source lobby (of which I'm part) have issues with MS and their proprital ways...

Nonetheless many end users like and enjoy using Explorer and for those who wish to remain with it best advice for them is to ensure its patched properly with the required security patches.

Cheers,
Tony

ps even though I'm signed up to open source etc I still use WinXP rather then Linux, BEOS or whatever because
all of my music software and hardware runs on Windows and I don't have time to search for or write my own
drivers, dlls and so on. My brother in law is a Linux fan and continually tries to argue with me about this and personally I think he misses the point - it's about the degrees of freedom that surround the choice and mine are limited by need-to-use and time. His aren't.

One other possibility Mark - if you are on Vista there have been a number of reports of issues between Vista and video/media players when used with on-line browsers see this and this

and this - particularly some of the comments towards the bottom of the thread.
Cheers,
Tony
ps - anyone who hasn't got Vista I'd strongly recommend holding off until at least SP1 is released.

I prefer Firefox to IE. The tabs are much better in FF than IE7.
