Im not sure on what you quite mean. Do you mean to start picking that fast, and everything?? If so I know in the beginning i played a lot of pavel's picking excerises, and still do just not as much now. Mostly the Ionian speedpicking lesson to warm-up. Grab the metrenome, and do some runs, raising bpms.

Thanks! I'll spend tomorrow doing just that.

There is also a lesson on using the metrenome, and differnet lessons you can use to help your techqnie and build up speed. Just start of slow, and slowly raise the BPM.

My Advice
Figure out what you want in life early.Wether it's the girl, the partying
or mastering the guitar.Adding any 2 together will get in your way.

Just adding something the the topic. You can become a great guitarist with moderate technique ( no super fast picking stuff) you cant become a great guitarist with moderate creativity.

This happens to me and my band once in a while. We just say "well, lets just do a cover song". Then we try a little on that song, and like suddenly we're just jamming a little, and then POW! We got ourselfs a song biggrin.gif
I suppose its a little difference when playing alone though.

The only advice I can give is to listen to music, listen to many different styles. Watching live DVDs are also pretty good. Do like The Uncreator said, go to the metal recommendations thread and pick some random bands smile.gif Discover new styles, bands etc.

Umm I said that up there. Playing fast, and stuff. Just opens new worlds up to you.
