Haha, I’m no Andy McKee, but yeah the fingerstyle playing is what I’m trying to learn now. I just really burned out on the electric stuff after listening to it ten hours a day for five years straight. Don’t get me wrong, I still love all the electric virtuoso music, but I’ve really mostly been listening to acoustic fingerstyle for the past nine months.

I mean, applying fingerpicking patterns over some nice chords is a lot more fun to practice than repeating alternate picking patterns for hours at a time. I’m not very far into it yet, but so far it’s come a lot more easily to me than the electric playing ever did. Practicing that stuff often feels like a chore to me, whereas the fingerstyle stuff is much more enjoyable. Plus it's challenging in a more rewarding way to me, because there seems to be more of a focus on chords and melody (as opposed to the electric guitar’s power chords, fast licks and repetitive exercises).

Still, ya just can’t beat the intensity of SHRED guitar!

Andy Jame's - Devil's Day

I really like this guy's sense of melody. combined with his serious thick rocking shredding technique...i will probably pick his new one up soon.
