this is just a suggestion for the site...

would it be possible to put an estimated difficulty rating on some of the lessons or something similar e.g.

kris' speed picking 1 on 1 videos have a difficulty of 1 (being one of the easier speed picking lessons)
pavels' speed picking has a difficulty of 2 (being a little harder)
etc

(by the way im not saying that kris' is easier im just using this as an example)

another suggestion is that the lessons have some Pre-requisits such as "you must know how to sweep pick" or "fast legato is needed here". this would give new users an idea of what techniques/scales/etc they would need to learn before delving in at the deep end and deciding "this is too hard for me" and put the guitar down.

For the 2nd one. We dont really need Pre-requisits, that might push some of the GMC users, away from some good learning lessons. Plus thats why you watch the main video, and read the description, and it usually says whats going on inside. So naturally if you dont want a challenge. Then look at another!!

We actually already have this - only we're not showing it to you yet...

All lessons are now given a level of difficulty (a very rough guideline) - it will be presented in the search and in the "video lessons" section. Hopefully we can get this up pretty soon. smile.gif

Yes it's really tricky to determine specific difficulty level... What we have done is to rate all lessons on a 1-10 degree scale.

I am just joking - I think that lesson was excellent for gmc:ers seeking challenge! smile.gif

And it actually only got a 9 I think - we are saving the number 10 in case Allan Holdsworth should do a lesson for us!

On a general note I think alternating between diffcult and easier lessons is a great idea - which is what you have done. So keeping up the good work! biggrin.gif

laugh.gif one of Allan's more accessible ones then Kris. If he went into his chord symbol explanations or explained his thinking behind a solo like protocosmos you might need a whole new scale range Kris.

Once went to a Holdsworth masterclass many years ago - lots of blown away players in the pub afterwards laugh.gif . I went home and kicked the cat, the guitar and the wall just for good measure...

Cheers,
Tony
