Do you think so? I think that the last albums are more influenced by new metal (is it bad blink.gif ) but they aren't bad albums... let's see what happen in the future...

My favorite In Flames album is Clayman with the song "Pinball Map". Melodical death metal suits me! smile.gif

This is the band that started it all for me really.. so I'm kinda prejudiced and think all their albums are great, my favourite song would be Zombie Inc. anyways can't wait for this one!

They havent made one decent album since Lunar Strain in my opinion.

QFT. smile.gif

Some of the albums - Whoracle(Whorable sad.gif ) are just complete messes, the lyrics all deranged psychobabble that look like they've been taking random words out a thesaurus and placing them in no proper context what so ever. It's worse than cheesey lyrics about the occult or dragons, there are no lyrics with in flames, its horrible. At least the older albums, Lunar Strain in particular, there are signs of some proper articulation and more interesting ideas musically.

QUOTE
Thus
Escape takes lead
into a world unknown uncontrolled by all
where border are erased and potential infinite
Chosen cells glands and transmittors
blast the body with joy
Astral feet running
up to dimension covered with gold
stairs of glowing ectoplasma
safir onyx and buzzing vibrations
A dead man banquet
food for the gods

That just makes no sense or relevance to anything.

I hate how they have changed their music from Jester Race to what it is today, where are all the great melodies and accoustic pieces they used to put in their songs?

They should have made Fredrik Johansson a member of the band ( december flower solo).
I've heard 3 solos of him and they are all great, he also played in Dimension zero's first album.
anyone knows if he's in any band?

Pfft, I don't get all the In Flames hate. Sure, I don't like any of their stuff after Whoracle (Yes, I love whoracle, and I'm proud of it!), but when they "sold out", they were the first ones to sell out in that way, and if they like it, just don't buy it. I mean, for me, they've made 4 incredibly good records, (Lunar Strain, Subterranean, Jester Race and Whoracle), and after that they took it in a direction that I might not be a big fan of, but I still respect them (even if it's only for selling out really effective), it's all the clones that should be disrespeced imo.

Well, i dont like In Flames, but i wouldnt say they sold out. Just because they take a new musical direction doesnt mean they sold out. If there making the music they truly want to make, then thats not selling out.

I only hate In Flames becuase I think their music is so extremely horrible. I find it impossible to enjoy that piece of crabcake. I dont really care if they are sell outs or not, the music is still so extremely bad in my ears. Though, Lunar Strain is a freakin masterpiece.

This is all just my opinion of course. I dont got anything against the people in the band, I'm sure they are nice guys biggrin.gif

Bands evolve, music evolves. Look at whar metal has turned into and the directions it has taken. It happens to bands and it's happened to In Flames. I like their old and new stuff but apparently come clarity has been their most succesful album yet so if it's working for them they'll keep doing it. I'm looking forward to their new album because as said i like both old and new In Flames. I think soundtrack is my favourite but after that i like msot of them, except lunar strain. In Flames will continue to be a successful band people love their new stuff, it's just that the people who listened to their old stuff don't like the change but the new listeners will love it

Yes but bands doesnt evolve into a dying genre like nu-metal. I hate when bands change there style of music to a more cotemporary popular genre to sell more album. In know In Flames doesnt mean it but I somehow think like that towards them and a lot of bands that I like. Thats all I hear from there newer records. It sounded like the rehashed stuff from the 90's pop "metal" with a hint of gothenburg.

being into in flames is surely a matter of taste. (but i think this is not different to other bands) I also think that none of their latest albums can match with Clayman but even though there are some diamonds between the dirt. For example "crawling through knifes","reflect the Storm" and "Come Clarity" from their latest album are really good songs in my opinion.

Well im anxious to listen their next album

are u seroius??? Lunar starin is their worst album!!

I defently agree that clayman is one of the best, Pinball map was the song that made me start liste to heavy metall which lead me inte to trash and death and all kinds of stuff...

Come clarity was a step in too a new direction and i think they are doing this album pretty simular... if u listen too the son "abnegation" at their myspace u will here that it's pretty simular.

I can't wait to the releas! I have all their albums (except for lunar strain wink.gif ) and seen them live 3 times and they have never let me down so far!
