Koa has a sweet warm tone, much like mahogany. The through body construction enhances the sustain. It plays nice, the feel is much more "personal" compared to my Ibanez, it just feels right. The neck is fast and smooth. Carvin really makes a great product, to have them build this for me was truely a gift to myself. Price wise it was expensive, but not so bad considering it was comparable to off the shelf guitars. I paid just over $1,300 (us dollars) maybe 9 years ago. Koa is a very rare wood these days as it is illegal to harvest and felled wood is in short supply. To have them make this for me today would be close to twice the cost just from the koa cost alone. It is more suited for blues, rock than shredding. I am glad you liked it smile.gif

How is your Ibanez acoustic ? I was looking at them today on the Guitar Center site, they got great reviews for the most part. Love the mini stack !!! You don't need a rockstar budget, just the desire to play. I'll bet your little rig cranks smile.gif

The Ibanez is pretty nice....I realy need to get an accoustic Amp for it's full potential thou.... tone wise it's allright unplugged but I think the Matao has a little more resinece to it......... I've got a deal with my wife for a New Breedlove Acoustic...... once I finish Remodeling the Kitchen , and replacing a few doors around the house.....thou I may have to change it to a new Amp...LOL...not sure yet... Yes that little rig does Crank.....hopefully I don't blow it up ; )
