Marshalls are always the best for hard rock and since this one is a hybrid amp, it has more than enough distortion for metal.
The avt 150 is the combo with 2x75 watts 12'' speakers, so it has got the power to gig with it. How cheap can you pick one of them up?

£80? blink.gif What are you waiting for! biggrin.gif It's really cheap in the UK compared to here and the prices (for a new amp) I checked in Germany.

why does Marshall completely cover the back of the amp on AVT combo amps? Is there a reason? People say the amps sound better without the back cover.

Because to adds more bass to the sound.

I play through AVT150 via 4x12 on rehearsals often and it is very versatile, although I didn't like the sound of it too much really. It's too strong and fuzzy amp. But for that kind of money I think it is really awesome, I would buy it anytime, congratulations mate, may it serve you well.
