I've been thinking about getting it. But I'm not sure. Is it a good investment?

yes, it is a great investment. It got thousands of tools that will help you practice better. You can compose and write your own songs and actually listen to them. You can also use many other instruments that GP has included.

I strongly suggest you try the trial version so you can see it for yourself wink.gif

i think you can try it at www.guitarpro.com

absolutley, useing guitar pro tabs is a big part of learning for me. I love to see the musical notation being played out alongside a tab!

I would say its deffinitly worth it..... and thats coming from a real tight ass!

I found it boosted my learning heaps. It can help you learn musical notation and you can compose stuff using many different instruments also..

What did you learn tonight?
while shouting so loud, you barely joyous, broken thing.
You are a voice that never sings, is what i say.
You are freezing over hell
You are bringing on that end you do so well
and you can only blame yourself, is what is say.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but Tux Guitar I believe is a free alternative to guitar pro! I think it also opens guitar pro formatted tabs, if I've read right?

Get Guitar Pro!!! I don't care how, just somehow load it on your computer....

If you want to teach yourself this software is a MUST. You can loop tabs, hear them, loop at reduced speed, has a built in metronome (VERY USEFUL!) and if you want to quickly get up to tempo/skill in a band GET GUITAR PRO!

What are you waiting for?? Get it!

There are free alternatives such as Power Tab (open source, not as strong as Guitar Pro but works for those who don't want to buy something, you can't loop or reduce speed or anything though... and they won't read Guitar Pro file..)

I bet this is how Herman Li taught himself...

Get a teacher anyways though, it helps, believe it or not! A Teacher can correct mistakes that can seriously hamper your progress later on down the road that no one on GMC can correct. It took me 6 years just to get mediocre on the guitar cause I didn't have a teacher and now I have to unlearn a lot of stuff..
