Hey everyone,

I am trying to figure out how to determine what scales are being used in a song. For example, I really like the song "King of Kings by Motorhead. The solo is incredible. How can I find what scale that solo is from?

Also, if I write my own song, how do I know the scale for the solo I will create?

Thanks

Outgunned. Watching the force come to a firefight with a pocket knife.
Getting schooled until they shot Achilles' heel and brought down the beast."

First of all,you need to figure out chord progression.
That'll tell you which key is,and then you'll know which scale is used or you wanna use. smile.gif

Another way is to take a blank musical staff (a tab will do too), write down all the notes that you can find in each chords of the song.. There's your scale!
