Hello Muris,

i love the song "southbound again".
Do you know how Mark Knopfler plays it. I have the notes but i cannot get the sound like Mark.
Is there a trick, or do you know the Fingerpicking for this song?

Cheers

Hi smile.gif

To be honest,I haven't heard that song before...
Guess it's something from his newer works.
He's probably playing it with his unique finger picking style. smile.gif
If you could give me link where I could hear the song, that'd help me to tell you what is it about.

Some better (and good-english speaking) guitarists will answer better than me but my two pences :

He plays usually with only 3 finger, without mediator.

His thumb is not limited to top three strings and moves depending on the other strings played (thumb can play G, B or E), especially in the legato/staccato parts.

For chords, he often plays with the index and middle finger tied together up and down : with the nails down, with the pulp up.

Last but not least : he is left handed but plays with a normal guitar (for right-handed). So his left fretting hand is very strong, and he can play outstanding bends.

That for the technics. Then, there is the feeling and the MK's touch smile.gif

Ohh,I totally forgot about this tune, thanks a lot for reminding me!!!! smile.gif
This is his fabulous staccato played with thumb plus index and middle finger together.
You have to play and switch between thumb and these 2 fingers,
which will instantly bring you this staccato sound. smile.gif
