wow. in a strange turn of events i end up at samash last night, a little before closing, and they had a spider valve ready for playing. it sounds incredible!! i compared a spider III's tone to a spider valves... the III just sounds muddy and muffled when compared, like there's a thick blanket on the tone. is that an accurate way to put it?

presets are all the same as III's. they do, of course, sound better. but they are all the same as the spider III's.

i assumed the effects section was the same.. but i'm not sure now. either the tubes make the effects sound way better or they are using different models. i didn't fiddle with the chorus/flange side very much, but delay and reverb sounded GREAT.

hi gain settings sounded similar to line6's usual sound, but as i said earlier, it's like somebody pulled the blanket off the tone. the mid-hi gain settings honestly sounded like the JCM the guy a few feet away was playing.

my personal favorite was the blue clean with some reverb. WOW. sounded incredible.

now, i only tried it for like 15-20 minutes, and i haven't played that many tube amps to begin with, so this is all just of course my opinion. but, in my opinion, this thing is amazing. i'm getting one ASAP!!

PS. i read on line6's forums that spider valve clips / movies of how it sounds should be up pretty soon. check around there if you're curious.

You are a voice that never sings, is what i say.
You are freezing over hell
You are bringing on that end you do so well
and you can only blame yourself, is what is say.

Cool!
What did the pricetag say?

EDIT:

I checked out musiciansfriend.com
a 1x12 combo $700 and a 2x12 conbo $830

Sounds cheap to me! Gosh... I'm getting hot and bothered. I think if this puppy sounds good it could be a great amp to toy around with at home.

Just found a sound clip of the Spider Valve played by Ed Degenaro at the sevenstring.org forum, link to the clip is:
http://www.eddegenaro.com/audio/spiva.mp3 <- this is a very impressive sound in my opinion.

And here is an interesting video of a Spider Valve demo that I just found (27 minutes long demo of the amp):
