Hey GMC'ers

I'm new to this forum, so I thought I introduce myself. My name is Michael and I joined GMC several month ago. I am 23 years old and I live in the town of Bonn in Germany. I started playing e-guitar two years ago.

Playing guitar always was a dream, but because of some reasons I never had the chance of learning to play this wonderful instrument. One reason was that my parents bought me an acoustic guitar as I was 14. It was a really cheap guitar, I still got it as a proof. Not even the greatest guitar artist, I think, could get a single melody out of it. It was an horrible instrument, I think it was about 20 bugs cheap. But I really tried. And my parents payed an instructor to give me a lesson. He could not even tune my guitar. And the quality of this instructor was as good as the quality of my guitar. I think I gave up playing after six month. I was totaly frustrated. And since that time my parents didn't support my efforts to play guitar at all.

So I had to wait until I had enough money to buy myself an instrument on which I could practice. With 21 I bought a second-hand Ibanez SA 260 and an Line6 Amp. And it worked out to sound really good, no comparison to my old guitar. That was an instrument you could work with. Since that day I practiced really hard. Surely, I don't want to be a guitar pro. I want to make musik and I want to improve, and in the end it's all about having fun.

What's so good about GMC is that I can practice guitar when ever I want. If I come home late I can have a lesson with quality instruction at half past ten pm. And since I practice with GMC I keept my promise to practice at least one hour a day. And I improved a lot.

Just recently I got the offer to play the guitar in a band! I went to one of the band practice sessions and they said, "yeah you can join us if you want". Cool thing! Playing with other people and other instruments is what guitar-playing and musik-making is all about, I think. That's what I always wanted. It's just so much fun.

Now I finally joined the GMC forum to get in contact to other guitar players. I can post my experience and benefit from other guitarists experience. Gear talk for example is very interesting for I have no clue about it. A band colleague for example has a really cool looking pedal board where there are several programs for several sounds. That's quite cool, because I am struggling with finding the right sound on my amp. But that's a topic for another post.

So I want to thank all GMC instruktors who made it possible for me to learn to play e-guitar. Because of your quality instructions I will always keep on playing, it really is fun.

So please keep on going like this, too

Michael
