You can check into the Korg Pandora. It is about half the price. If you like some of the tones Muris gets...this may be something to consider. The POD is highly overrated! Andrew? I was just kidding!!!

Hah!

The pod is great if you can afford it, I use the PodXT Live for playing and recording and I love it, it has huge versatility. As with all these things, your best bet is to try one and see if it works for you - but be warned, the best of the Pod is not in its factory presets, you need to tinker to get the best sounds.

And lets not forget...the quality of your guitar is a big help too. Guess you also need to ask yourself this. Are you chasing rolleyes.gif tone, 'cause you are unhappy with your playing technique? If this is the case...NO effects are gonna help that.

Three others worth a mention Ben:

Roland/Boss GT8 and the Yamaha MagicStomp. The Yam I think is pretty cheap as Yam for some reason haven't really pushed it. It's still a great pedal - Allan Holdsworth is one person who uses them. If you have loads of money burning a hole then there is also the TC Electronics G-System - built like a tank and studio quality - just don't expect change from 1000UK Sterling.

Cheers,
Tony

Yes...I just ordered one myself. The REAL reason I did not invest in a POD, is because, my wife won't let me soend the :$300.00...the Pandora is half that price. Actually I've have the chance the paly with both, and really like the Pandora's sounds more. You could check into the new Pocket POD. I hear great things about them too.

Sorry to slash between Andrews half hour of power, but all POD's are highly overrated. THey are decent, ,but for the price you pay for each POD you can get other stuff from Brands like Digitech for the same price with loads of additional features.

POD's are userfriendly but they lack lot of stuff.

If you had a POD Xt live in mind id blindly suggest you go in for a Digitech GNX 4, Digitech GNX 3000 or that multieffects unit my BOSS.

Try em out and youd see the difference.

If i were you id go on UG and see the ratings and reviews on the POD XT LIVE. It does not have that high rating (i think 8 or 7) where as the GNX4 has a rating of 10/10!

Your choice, but keep in mind the POD (or pretty much all line 6 products) are highly marketted and over rated.

You have one right? Or is this just your opinion?

As I said Ben, try them all and see for yourself, your own opinion is the most important. FWIW, the recording quality of the Pod XTL is extremely good, and they rate highly for ease of use. I haven't heard any of the other models mentioned so can't compare directly.
