Strap Length...yes, Again, help!

I do like the look and feel of it beibg lower...IE Slash, Steve Clark, Ace Frehley. I was wondering if any of you where it that low. I am stritctly a riff/rhythme player, so playing fast scales/solos is not a concern for me. If any of you do wear your strap that low, do you find it hard to play full barre chords, or find it slow to change to regular open position chords? My thought is this. I always practice standing up...it it jusy a matter for getting ue to plying that was. I really don't wear it as low as Steve Clark did...but who does anyway? I moved my guitar up just the other week, trying to find what works best. next time I will move it nipple high just like Petrucci and see how that works for me. I suspect that will feel comfortable. I raised my guitar up to Petrucci height a few months ago. I find it makes a comfortable fretting hand position much easier to achieve. I have a question about straps. I bought a new one that is fat but the adjustable length part is thin. Which end goes where? Playing guitar on my waste is uncomfortable because I have fairly normal fingers and when im playing some solo that requires my pinky, its not reaching the lower strings, low E for the most part.
