Ok. Since my lost strap length psot, I've been trying diff lenghths. I do like the look and feel of it beibg lower...IE Slash, Steve Clark, Ace Frehley. I was wondering if any of you where it that low. I am stritctly a riff/rhythme player, so playing fast scales/solos is not a concern for me. If any of you do wear your strap that low, do you find it hard to play full barre chords, or find it slow to change to regular open position chords? My thought is this. I always practice standing up...it it jusy a matter for getting ue to plying that was. I really don't wear it as low as Steve Clark did...but who does anyway? tongue.gif

Too low just feels wierd. I moved my guitar up just the other week, trying to find what works best.
next time I will move it nipple high just like Petrucci and see how that works for me.
I suspect that will feel comfortable.

I raised my guitar up to Petrucci height a few months ago. I find it makes a comfortable fretting hand position much easier to achieve. Having the strap at Steve Clark levels would probably break my wrist now ohmy.gif

This is exactly how I wear my guitar, it just feels uncomfortable any lower.

I have a question about straps. I bought a new one that is fat but the adjustable length part is thin. Which end goes where? Does the thin part go towards the back of the guitar/accross your back or does the fat part go there and the thin par comes down in front and connects to the top/front of the guitar? Or is it user friendly and you wear it however you feel comfortable?

I have mine with the fat part connecting at the back/right/bottom of the guitar and the fat part comes accross my back and over my shoulder with the thin part connecting to the left/top of the guitar.

I hope I didn't confuse anyone with my descriptions.

I have one too - the thin part goes on the back, or I have it totally wrong!

Yea, mine is kinda similar to Petrucci, maybe a nudge lower. Lokks geeky but not when your shredding your ass off. Playing guitar on my waste is uncomfortable because I have fairly normal fingers and when im playing some solo that requires my pinky, its not reaching the lower strings, low E for the most part.

I always keep it pretty high, like Turilli and Rusty. It's much more comfortable for difficult stuff to play with guitar higher than lower because of the wrist position.
