Hello Muris(and all forum readers).....
I have a little question for you,
I was lsitening to your Steve Lukather style solo, just awesome i have to say, and reading the comments and i read someone asking you about the thumb, how you should hold it behind the neck or not or whatever...
And i wanted to know: is there really bad things you can do that will really decrease your abilaties on the guitar??
like, how must i hold my right and left hand, what about it?
can anyone just play how it feels most comfortable to him/her?
because when i watch the lessons then i sometimes use other fingers then in the movies.....
is that bad or less good??? just want to make sure that i develop the right way...
Take Care,
Lester

Hi Lester smile.gif

You see,we all have hands of our own, different fist and fingers size etc.
But there are some "laws" for all of us. smile.gif
Per example, best way to perform quality bend is to have your left hand around whole neck,
with your thumb touching low E string, even A string sometimes.
On the other hand, many shreders play bends with having thumb in the middle of the neck.
But honestly, those are not very powerful bends. So you should try few ways
and decide what fits you the best.
Same thing with playing some freaking chops that contain wide stretching.
Most natural way for this is to place thumb in the middle of the neck or even bellow.
On the other hand, sometimes I find myself playing some tricky lick with my thumb not so low on neck.
So it's truly individual matter, and depends of situation as well.
As I said, there are "laws" for all of us,
but "laws" are there to be broken here and there as well. smile.gif

Hope this helps a bit.

Take care and let me know if you need anything else.

Actually,a cellphone with camera will do the job.
No need for high picture quality here,
just so see the way you're holding your hands while playing specific licks etc. smile.gif

Well, this is the deal Lester. wink.gif

From the videos you provided here your hands are looking really fine.
Was missing bridge and your right hand wrist to see are you laying on it tho,
but what I liked here the most that your right hand fist is nicely closed. smile.gif

Left hand is fine too, maybe you could relax it a bit with wrapping more around the neck.
In Funk rhythm lesson there are no big stretches, you may hold your thumb bit higher in my opinion.
Still,if this feels comfortable for you,go ahead.
Timing is lacking here and there but good news is that you feel it,
so more practice and that's it.

Good work so far! smile.gif
