Doing something like this i think could turn extremely bad for GMC, i don't really see the benefit of it to be honest with you. If things do go the wrong way you could lose members, stop members from joining and turn this from what it is which is a great community, to something really bad. That's just my opinion on it.

Yeah but look at ultimate-guitar.com's classifieds, they usually never have problems.

For the naysayers that are concerned about scamming and similar, what if there was some sort of requirement about being on the board for a period of time, and making a certain number of posts? In addition, we could make that board for pre-moderated posts only.

Any comments?

Doh, didn't even see that! Ignore what I said tongue.gif

UG is an awful community i think. I'd much rather be on here then on UG. Who knows what's caused UG to turn out the way it has

UG is free. it's the biggest guitar site on earth. most of the users are full-of-themselves kids (i'm only 18, so i'm not dissing on kids or anything) that think they know more about guitar playing then anyyybody else. i think there are plenty of intelligent people on UG, it's just that the whiny stupid people are the ones that talk the most, thus they paint the dirty picture.

Well, since about 75% of people were positive about it, maybe we'll try it - I'll PM Kris.

Thanks everyone for your feedback, we got some useful security ideas out of this.

I was thinking, about the security thing, everytime there is a transaction, you have to agree to a contract for it just like when a new instructor joins they have to agree to the contract, and if anything goes bad the person who was scammed can take the seller to court over it.

ADD:
"WARLOCK: TEH n00b AXE" (have to agree)

UGers can be close minded but as Asphyxia Feeling said there are a lot of smart UGers. I used to get UGers to do my homework (that was when i was aiming at a B ). Lot of them know stuff like Quantinum Physics and all but just hang around in the pit to act stupid.

Wish GMC had as many members on the forum, it would be a lot better (guess people are afraid to post).

As was stated a ways back in another reply, It's a trust thing. I buy from ebay only after researching feedback and from a popular Jackson guitar forum. and if I dont know the member a simple email to someone who has done business with them usually is enough for me.

Also the thought of a classified section only open to subscribers would be a little more reassuring that if they pay to stay most become regular posters.

I think it's a good idea wink.gif

I like this idea, but I don't believe it would work legally - and GMC really shouldn't get in the middle of this. The usual approach is for the Lister to be just that, someone who lists the goods - the contract is between the buyer and seller and usually regulated by the laws of the country (though how that works over the internet where buyer and sellers can be in completely different countries or continents, I have no idea!)

Only reason i said possible is because the fact that shipping may kill us here in the USA .If not i would very much be likly to buy as long as they had fair prices.I think it would be a very smart move for Kris though as you might as well get everything out of the site you can. wink.gif cool.gif

I know my vote is 2 years late, but I would just like to say that it's a great idea, especially if GMC gets more members worldwide, so people from, say, Stavanger, can also benefit from this... smile.gif
