Minor Pentatonic Scales

Hi Andrew,

I really like your lesson on the Minor Pentatonic scale.
There is one thing that I don't understand. If you figure out the boxpatterns for the different keys, with some of the keys, for instance B, you start with box 1 at the 7th fret.
Am I right that in those cases boxes 4 and/or 5 move to the beginning of the neck? Otherwise the last box would end at fret 19.

I think it sounds a bit vaque, but look at the attached picture to see what I mean unsure.gif

I hope you can clear this up for me...

You are correct about those boxes 4 and 5 being back at the start of the neck, but they are also box 4 starting 14th fret and box 5 starting 17th. I never gave the boxes numbers when I learn them, I didn't like to think of them as boxes either, I just used the patterns to make it easier for me to remember the entire scale all the way up the fretboard. That way you don't get stuck playing boxes, and end up being called the box boy.
