Just one question: Does it have to be a Washburn or a general suggestion on a good guitar for christmas?

...oh and what style you want to play (rock,metal,blues...) and what is your price range?

Here is a page with various Washburn models.

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigation/...1+306241+200994

Some brands you should look into are Fender, Ibanez, Gibson, Schecter, Jackson, etc. But don't decide you want it just because it looks cool, remember like ZakkWylde asked, what kind of music do you want to learn. That all depends on the kind of guitar you get (well more the model). But refer it to us or someone else before deciding if you don't know much yet.

You will learn in time though! smile.gif

Maybe you want to split your money and get an amp and a guitar for 500$ each if you don't have one already.
For 1000$ you can check out Dean Razorbacks, Ibanez Prestige models and the heavy versions of esp guitars and jackson guitars.
You can do nothing wrong with guitars from these brands in your price class. Maybe you try some at a musicstore first before you buy one.
