fretboard could be oiled once in a while - with lemon juice or a special lemon cleaner. I use paraffine oil. I oil it and leave it to dry til the next day, then oil it a second time if it looks dry and put on the strings a few hours later.
While the strings are off you can gently brush the frets with this 0000 steel woll thingy that wife keeps in the kitchen under the sink. :-) About temperature, as Andrew says, the guitar will be affected from temperature changes and probably constant changes in humidity aswell thoug it for the most part should stay protected by its paint. It must be possible to keep guitars in Dubai aswell, just think of all famous shredders that come from there, how did they manage? ..or am I way off now again...  I think the Evolution pus have ben waxed. No? If not that could be one way, people do it for sound but I can imagine wax would protect from humidity aswell. Drown the pu's in a 70 C wax bath for 30 minutes or so. I never did it myself so I donk know the exact mixture, temperature and timing. -------------------- My bands homepage

Get lemon juice then, that's the stuff in general that's good. Paraffine works for me but I don't know if anyone else use it, maybe it cause the neck to catsh fire or something

Humidity can affect guitars. There's a thing called a guitar humidifier that the manufacturer's say sort this issue out (costs about 20UK sterling) - English supplier's email is [email protected]. I know nothing specific about the product but if it's a case of reducing humidity then silica gel which you can normally get from a Chemist/Pharmacist may well work. Silica gel is the bright blue crystals/powder gel that turns pink when it's wey, you often get packets of it in shipping cartons if you buy electrical stuff and similar by mail.

Cheers, Tony Tony: thanks for the advice. Im not sure if its available where I am, but my closest buddies are from london, perhaps they can send me the device. I'll go out and buy silica gel, too. Do I just leave the stuff in the guitar case? I am currently storing the Jem in its prestige case when its not in use, and when it is being used the air conditioning is on, and im hoping it takes away humidity. |

I'd say that the main bit is to keep any silica away from the guitar just as a precaution, it shouldn't but if it was in contact it might affect the finish. When it comes in packing crates its usually in a small semi-permeable bag. I guess that muslin would do as well as anything else - just make sure the silica can't spill out onto your Jem.
One thing with silica - when it turns pink you can re-activate by putting it in an oven at @120 for a while. It will turn blue again and you can re-use it.
