Hi,
Im having a problem mixing down midi files into audio files to put onto cd in Cubase. Mixing down the audio tracks is no problem but the midi tracks wont mix down with the audio. Can anyone tell me how this is done?

Just mix down the MIDI tracks seperately to a MIDI file. You could try to just only leave the MIDI track/tracks to the session and then go to Export-> MIDI file

Was that what you meant?

Alternatively you can use the freeze function to create an audio file out of a midi track

Yes this is a good idea, this way you also save precious proccesor power for your inserts rather then the VSTs

This is a problem I've run into in the past. Basically Cubase cannot mix down midi files into the audio stream. The only way around this is to:
a) Use a vst intrument - Setup the vst intrument and send the midi output to that vst. The vst will then appear on the mixdown as vsts give an audio output.
b ) Record your midi track as a audio file. To do this you will need a sound card that has the 'What-U-Hear' record function, enabling you to record anything going through your soundcard. Or you could route the output of the sound card into the line in and record it that way.

Hope that helps!
David
