I am currently playing a 1989 rg750 (Ibanez) I saved up my pennies while I was in college to get this guitar. This is the guitar Paul Gilbert played at the time. I have actually seen him doing guitar clinics with it still. Anyway, I am contemplating a pickup change after nerly 20 years of playing the original IBZ USA's . Just looking for some suggestions. Thanks

edit: I removed recommendation, I found some that sold on ebay. I doubt this will be a collectors item, so I would go ahead and change them if you like. but I left the cereal ad in, you might want that, as it goes with your guitar.

Thanks for all the info from everyone. fkalich, I actually remember that ad. I scoured every mag I could get my hands on back then to make sure I picked the "perfect guitar". Since this was before the luxury of internet searches I read every review I could find. I will follow up on everyones recommendations and will upgrade soon. Thanks again.

I've noticed that the Evo's in my mahogany w/ maple top S sound near identical to the IBZs in my RG550 reissue. I'm pleased with them in my S, I guess they'd sound good in basswood.
