Palm muting should work. You will have to experiment with the palm of the picking hand over the bridge or move closer to pickup for a heavier muted sound, or to deaden it altogether. Just play around the low E string with your palm in different positions until you get the hang of it. It takes some practice. Good luck

i'm not talking about the plam muting..i'm talking about shreding over 6 string..for example playing on D and muting string up to D and down to D

actualy i'm find some way..when i'm play B and go to play HI-e i'm trying to touch with my top index finger slightly the B to avoid the noise..like i'm write before..i'm also was try to mute the string with right hand but thats make me trouble specilay when i'm moving up or down..and what's happen or i'm mute them too mutch or i'm don't mute them well ...i'm not sure about my technic rolleyes.gif

Hi besip, this is a very cmmon problem GMC is finding so don't worry you're not alone and the great thing is it doesn't take too much effort to get this right, just practice of it. Ok first of all you seem to have muting the E string right, you just angle your finger yes? Well, with muting the B the main part is actually muting with your picking hand. Now you can either do this karate chop style across the strings (i think the most popular) or you can do it with the thumb side palm (i prefer this). No you rest those across the strings that you are not playing. In other words, the Bass E, A, D and G strings. Getting this right at first can be a real bum i'll warn you. However when you can do it well you'll find it very useful. To be 100% sure, you can also move your index finger of your fretting hand so that not only does it angle to mute the E string, but it slightly touches the G string as well when you're playing on the B string, to get no noise at all. Hope this helps and don't expect yourself to get this straight away, it took me a while but i was fortunate it took me a lot less time than usual.

thank's steve

i'm actualy i'm know what u mean whit the karate chop{hope so}i'm thing i'm see pavel do that rolleyes.gif i'm also trying to do with the palm but when i'm do that i'm also muting the string what i'm have to play..so probaly i'm not ok with the technique

i'm trying to use now the technique when my index finger touch slightly the up string what has to be unplay...thats what i'm trying to do right now..but for sure will be cooll double the muting with the picking hand..i'm just have to find the right technique

Muris speaks the truth, also if you are playing at quite a decent speed don't expect yourself to be able to play at the same speed when you're trying to do this technique play slower and really concentrate on what you are doing.

Double muting as you've called it there is a good thing to do, i do it and it helps me now i never get string noise which is good, unless i'm not concentrating at all. Make yourself little licks and stuff that you can practice this technique with. I had a couple which not only helped string muting but legato as well

E------------------------------
B-------12h14h15p14p12---
G---14------------------------
D------------------------------
A------------------------------
E------------------------------

The above is a very simple little legato lick that i used to play and repeat over and over until i could get the legato perfect and the string muting. When i'd play the 14th G, my picking hand was muting the E, A and D string and would allow the G to ring out. However when i went to pick the B string my picking hand was close enough to the G string that the movement of my hand would automatically mute the G as i moved towards the B string if you get me, so i didn't have to move my hand too much. And when i finished the hammer ons and pull offs and moved back to the G, it would unmute it again to let the note ring out. When i could do this perfectly, it was time to boost the metronome speed up.

You could try doing something similar to that yourself so that it's not too overwhelming having to do it all over the string at first. So you just perfect one little lick, then you know roughly how it works and what you have to do, and in no time you'll be able to do that for everything you play. Hope this helps you out a bit

i'm understand..like i'm set the problem probally with me and the technique rolleyes.gif ..if i'm got u right u regulary mute the the E, A and D string with the palm right?? and you also can do double when u slightly touch the D with index

i'm know thats about the technique..i'v been lost becouse i'm see somebody mute the low string with thumb and somebody with the palm

the lick looks great steve..just little question when u do the 2 hamer and ten 2 pul of do u made just 1 pick and then 2 hammer and 1 pick and then 2 pul of????

You understood me correctly yes i do mute the E A and D if i am playing on the G string and i also do double muting. It's up to you if you decide to concentrate on one then the other however i practiced both at the same time so that they would both become second nature to me. That is the way i mute.

I think it's personal preference how you do it either with thumb side palm or the other side. They both do the same thing and i can't see any benefit of doing one over the other however someone else may know something i don't. I can play fine the way i do it so that's the way i'll mute as it doesn't restrict me to anything.

When i do the hammer on in that lick i only pick once for the h/p part. So in total i'm only picking twice in that lick. One for 14th fret G and again on the 12th fret B and that's it. I also had a similar one which went

E---------------------------
B------12-14-15p14p12--
G--14----------------------
D---------------------------
A---------------------------
E---------------------------

Which is very similar except i'd pick the 14th and 15th fret over the B as well and then do pull offs. I used to practice both until i got very quick at both of them

laugh.gif no fast on clean play

somethime i'm dont know when to move forward becouse i'm not sure if the speed what i'm made is ok to move my self to the next stuff...but if i'm be play that on 150bpm like triplets on clean...i'm thing i'm be can move to do next smile.gif

but i'm be put the spedd down now the most important thing is muting right..so maybe at 40bpm i can make it after couple hour of training at clean play...hehe

Only when you feel comfortable with it should you raise them bpm. Yeah i take it you mean when you have distortion on? Getting it clean is tough but with practice you'll get there. Good luck smile.gif

If you do it clean at 40 imo that's better the playing it at 60 messy Besip smile.gif . Just takes time and practice,
