I think Schecter has the best quality for the value, they're great guitars, and mostly all in the $600ish area.

in terms of value and price, i'd say schecter just destroys the competition. they're most expensive non-signature guitar is like 700 dollars, and it's incredible to play. meanwhile look at every other brand on that list, most of their high end guitars are 1000+ (these are just generalizations, i know every brand has a decent 500$ dollar guitar and whatnot, my guitar is a 300$ ibanez) ((although i am getting that schecter!!))

The original question was "best quality overall" and not most bang for the buck, so I'm going with the original question here. My vote was for Gibson. I've had my LP Custom for 24 years and it still plays like butter. However, about a week ago I bought a new American Deluxe Strat which I have not been able to keep out of my hands. After a few tweaks to the bridge and a minor truss rod adjustment to get the action where I want it, it's one of the best guitars I've played. And I never thought I would find a guitar I like as much as my LP Custom.

As an FYI, Guitar Center bought up all the Fender stock on the 50th Anniversary '57 Strat and dropped the price from $1600 to $999. And let me tell ya, this things plays awesome. Since I'm still in my 30-day full refund/return period with my American Deluxe, I was ready to swap it for one of the '57's. The ONLY thing that kept me from doing it was the fact that the anniversary edition will surely be a collector's item and I would be hesitant to put too much wear and tear on it. I wanted a Strat to play and gig with -- which is what I have now, so I'm sticking with it. However, if anyone would like to check out one of the '57 Anniversary editions, you better do it quick. They're selling fast and furious. Seems every one they get here where I live is gone in less than two days.

Now...back to the "best quality" topic. About two weeks ago I was in Sam Ash and saw some of the most incredible guitars I've ever seen. They're made by Warrior, a custom shop in Georgia, USA -- and you can be the proud owner of one for $3000 USD and up -- and I mean way up!!! As for quality, it's a true work of art. Some models have an illuminated sword embedded in the 12th fret that's activated by a switch on the tone knob. Anyways, check out a few of their custom shop models at the website below. They're quite impressive.

Gibson for me and the reason why -

Take a look at any of the top end Gibson semi acoustics and factor in the quality of the woods used and workmanship. IMO it takes a good technician to build a good solid body guitar BUT semis and acoustics require real skill and it's here that Gibson really do excel of those in the list. I also think it's worth a mention that again on the semis and most of the high end solids that Gibson and PRS use nitrocellulose finishes where you can see the grain of the wood rather than cover the guitar in a polyuretane paint. If there are imperfections in the wood or the finishing it will stand out a mile. What you get with Gibson semi is not just a well put together guitar with quality electrics and other hardware but the skills learnt over many years in working with and shaping woods plus quality parts and finishing. So that to me means they win hands down for quality AND value for money.

Cheers,
Tony

I chose Gibson because I dont really have enough experience/knowledge with all of these brands to give a professional answer, so I'm going to fall back on the opinions of those I deem well versed and traveled.

In my opinion Gibson does make the most qualiy buit guitars but definatly no overall with price and value for money.I admit i made my poll a bit confusing cause it was meant to be the best quality guitar for value of price parts and woods.I know alot though i was saying just best built guitar. So by the topic that it was meant to be i pick schecter cause you cant beat those prices and quality for the buck

No doubt that Gibson makes high quality guitars, but they come with a high price tag.

I voted Ibanez because it's a great guitar at decent pricing. My first serious guitar will be an Ibanez.

I voted Ibanez, but i also have my own opinion about this: the best guitar is the one that suits you best, and not the brand. It can be a no-brand guitar but if it feels good and plays smooth than who cares if it's Ibanez or Gibson? i can't wait to try my new Dean and i bet it will kick ass but will i be able to say that Dean is better than Ibanez? I had 2 Ibanez axes and played them for long long hours and i think there is no "best" just as in "Best guitar player" polls.

Some people like Schecter - i tried it and didn't like it at all, so you can't convince me Schecter is best, can you? I also tried Yamaha - it sucked. Whatever Ibanez i pick up - it's the right axe, so this whole"best guitar" thing is all the matter of preference.

I prefer, Ibanez, and Fender, but I really do agree with Pavel on this.

Thats whats so difficult with music. Most of it deals with Personal Preference.

I agree actually. If someone told me to try out this unknown guitar brand i wouldn't be put off just because it's not a popular brand. If it sounded good and felt good then hey who cares. I read in Total Guitar not too long ago about a guitar made by a company called Spear, who are a new company and they rated it very highly. Said for a £400 odd guitar it sounds like you're playing a guitar that's worth £1000 which i think is great because some of these guitars out there are so over priced. In fact i'm interested to try one out when i decide to buy a new guitar.

However i voted for PRS. Yes they are hellishly expensive but they really are awesome guitars. First time i got to play a custom 22 i fell in love. And i was playing it through a really really old amplifier and it sounded top class. PRS i think make some great guitars and also some more affordable ones. PRS customs are extremely expensive but they sound great, and they're also good for just about any style. They're starting to get used more nowadays i guess because more people can afford them. One of my favourite bands, Opeth, use PRS customs i just love the sound.

quick note.. What dollars are we talking when we say "most expensive being 700" Beacuase my damien 7 was around that price but my c1 exotic star was more around 1100.. just wondering biggrin.gif I still agree schecter has amazing guitars for value. Most are in the price range said and even the signatures only cost as much as their highest end stuff!
