1. Bjørn Berge - If he doesnt get to be on the top 100 list I'll leave GMC forever! NOONE plays like him and his skills are just amazing.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Pfte-sL1Jtc

2. Øystein Sunde - He's the best lyric writer ever imo. He also have a pretty unique style, he's not another one of those rock/shred dudes. He plays alot of different styles.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=vhlu2ybpzC8

3. Johnny Winter - Really good bluesrock guitarist, you instantly recognize that its him playing.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=-8siLZ4zNbY

4. Robert Johnson - A HUGE influence on blues and rock music. He got so many classic songs.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Yd60nI4sa9A

5. John Butler - What can I say, amazing acoustic playing.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6VAkOhXIsI0

6. John Fogerty - Excellent player, singer and songwriter, really good rock'n'roll.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=zZe9OtFNt_8

7. Robert Randolph - Noone plays like him, he lpays a 13 string lapsteel guitar.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Nw9xvy1DWsk

8. Adrian Smith - Soooo freakin good tone and phrasing.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=rAWb1e3aU1s

9. Paul Gilbert - He's pretty much the only shredder I like. I love his rock'n'rollish style and raw sound. Really kewl guy aswell.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=XIzmmSSqZzQ

10. Robert Jr. Lockwood - Robert Johnson's step son(sort of I guess), enough said.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=38ZJNEqC6Ww

11. Leo Kottke - I just recently discovered this guy, I simply LOVE his style.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=tew_fIhz3eY

12. Snooks Eaglin - Ii like his acoustic solo stuff best, I couldnt seem to find anything on youtube though. Anyway, have a listen.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=nrbT5FWuTXs

13. Stevie Ray Vaughan - His super amazing warm strat tone is just... super mindblowing. I love his style, he REALLY got the groove.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=gGcgcOEvqE4

14. Muris Varajic - This guy should have been world famous long time ago. I love his amazing skills, tone and his ability to play any style. (Oh btw, I challenge you to try Bjørn Berges style wink.gif )
http://youtube.com/watch?v=zcm8Ee4-3M0

15. B.B. King - The one and only. Noone can make the sounds he does. He kicks any shredders ass
with three notes imo.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=wNId8clBdbI

16. John Lee Hooker - Damn this guy kicks ass, I cant describe it in words, but there is just something about him that kicks ass.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=qThmM5-y_Ok

17. Dave Murray - His tone and playing is like warm butter.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=geEWHhIiIOQ

18. John Mayer - He is like a mix of Hendrix and SRV. His playing is just so very, very groovy and emotional.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6sPmTgPvx28

19. Ronnie Le Tekrø - He can really make some super cool effects and sounds with his guitar.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ToDzLVp00Gk

20. Stefan Grossman - He is an EXCELLENT guitar teacher. His knowledge about acoustic blues and playing is incredible.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=7LusucpCjMQ

I have probably posted wrong links and typos, I will check if everything is correct asap.

Looks kinda messy, oh well.

*phew* a little less messy now.

Ok, here's my list, and I won't be going after skill at all, I'm going after what they actually play, so skill is a bonus, but not a must in my list. smile.gif I'll write the names and what I love them for (it doesn't have to be thair main band).

1. Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth)
2. Don Anderson (Agalloch)
3. Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree)
4. Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)
5-6. Munaf Rayani and Mark Smith (Explosions in the Sky)
7. Peter Lindgren (Opeth)
8. Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill music, even though I never played a silent hill game (thanks Gen biggrin.gif ))
9. Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity and about 500 other bands)*
10. John McLaughlin (The Mahavishnu Orchestra, and for him just being himself)
11. Håvard Jørgensen (Ulver!)
12. Varg Vikernes (aka Burzum)
13. John Haughm (Agalloch)*
14. Buckethead (himself)
15. David Gilmour (Pink Floyd)
16. Slash (Guns 'N Roses)
17. Øystein Aarseth (aka Euronymous)
18. Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society)
19. Johannes Persson (Cult of Luna)*
20. Anders Nyström (aka Blakkheim) (Katatonia, Bloodbath)

Ugh, making this list was really hard, but I think I'm happy with it as it is now.

EDIT: Removed the number 18 that was mysteriously hiding under everything else.

EDIT2: Added a * wich means that I have a feeling I put them on there because they are awesome musicians, and not only awesome guitarists. I'm sorry for that mistake, but I suck at making lists laugh.gif

And some honary mentions: Tom Morello, John Petrucci, Björn Berge (I'm hooked now, thanks Robin).

Interesting and different list. Varg Vikernes, Øystein Årseth, Nocturno Culto and Gylve "Fenriz" Nagell, you wont find better riff makers than them on this planet.

Yeah, I thought about having nocturno culto and fenriz aswell, but there just wasn't enough room on the list biggrin.gif

And, well, I really don't care about widdly woo guitarists and legends, I like what I like and what they do not their technique, so my list might not be the most technical (even though buckethead is up there!), but it's what I like smile.gif

Btw, what does the exclamation point mean at the beginning of this thread on the first post near Spider's name? Just curious.

Spidey, This is a woderful idea, so well done on that.

The thing is, I only have around 10 guitarists on my list! And only 6 or 7 of those I really like. Anything else would just be filler! Do you still want me list? wink.gif
