That means you have to fight Muris. ohmy.gif

I think it will take quite a few of us to top his shredtastic skills.

Surprised that you would leave Page out. Who was more influential than Page in the heavy rock genre? I dare say, nobody.

Very true Fkalich but HR isn't really my end and so my list probably reflects my musical taste as such. There's maybe a discernible bias in my list towards jazz/fusion smile.gif . I'm sure that Page will make the cut - probably more chance then most/maybe all those on my top 20 however.

Cheers,
Tony

Wow this is hard to do. huh.gif I've got to say that I listen to whatever lead I think is great regardless of who plays it in any style. But if I had to say that there were some of the greatest guitarists that never disappoint me I can think of a few that I believe that are probably from another planet. Way beyond what I could ever hope to achieve. That would start with:

1.) Al Dimeola

2.) Alan Holdsworth

3.) Shawn Lane

4.) Frank Gambale

5.) Tony Rice

you know what..., the list is just too long. I'll not clutter up this thread any longer. smile.gif

OK, here's a list that me and my friend came up with after band practice:

1. Steve Vai
2.John Petrucci
3.Zakk Wylde
4.Dave Mustain
5.Kirk Hammet
6.Jimmy Page
7.Bucket Head
8.Randy Rhoads
9.Eric Johnson
10.Marty Friedman
11.Dime bag
12.David Gilmore
13.Jimi Hendrix
14.Eric Clapton
15.EVH
16.SRV
17.Slash
18.Yingwie Malsteen
19.Tony Iomi
20.Joe Satriani

Honerable metion:

Paul Gilbert
B.B. King

I know that some of guitarists higher one this list aren't as good as some of the guitarists lower on it, but we kind of made it according to skill of the player and influence that the he has had on music in general. Not completely, though. That's why Vai is #1 cool.gif
