Really muris? How does it effect the sound? does it make it more clean of a sound, or just less interference or what?

Ive always wanted to know how much the better cords effect the sound!!

A lot of cheap cables make noise and don't sound as good. You should get good cables if your looking for less noise (or no noise) and a better, clearer sound out of your guitar and amp.

How high end are we talking here? There are monster cables that are like $50 for 12 feet, which just seems ridiculous, but I doubt the 9$ cables are getting the job done either.

Where's the sweet spot? Any sort of rating or something to look for?

You could look for ratings on a guitar site like musiciansfriend.com or just read the details on it. I'll look for an example and post it.

Not only it's clearer but sound is a lot more brighter and LOUDER!!! smile.gif

It was maybe 5-6 years ago,I have been using Planet Waves cable,
which is fine cable tho but I had it for 2 years or som.
I had a show and friend of mine wanted to jam with my bend.
He plugged his Strat(I had Axis,a lot more power the Strat) with his cable into my gear
and I was like.."man,you wanna burn my stuff??"
He bought brand new Klotz cable(not too long as well) with Neutrik jacks that morning. rolleyes.gif

Ok here. This cable looks decent so here is an example.

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Mon...ble-?sku=331639

Monster cables are good and they aren't always 50 dollars. I think Live Wire and Planet Wave are usually good too. Just look around and ask your local guitar store clerks what they think about it if you are looking for a good quality cable.

Monster is the way to go, in my opinion. I got a 12 foot cable for $30. Sure it is expensive but Monster has the greatest policy ever. If the cable shorts out on you, stops working properly, or even if you cut it, you can take the broken cable into any retailer that sells Monster products and get a new cable on the spot, no charge to you.

What can I say - I love Monster Cables! biggrin.gif

Really! Cool. I never knew that. I've stayed away from them because of the cost, but maybe it's something to consider.

I've always understood that the main difference is that the cheaper cables may pick up interference but there was not much difference between the mid-priced cables and the higher end ones as long as they were properly shielded. But I trust what Muris says about it and I'll check it out now. If it benefits the signal where it is noticible, by all means I would be interested.

The more I think about it, it may be the same scenario where someone buys a really expensive stereo system but cuts costs on the speakers.

I'll have to get some decent cables which go between my pedals. The short cables i have are sucky-sucky biggrin.gif so i should look for something better.

+1 on good cables. I never used any fantastic cables so I wouldn't know if it's worth it. But besides a better sound from good cords compared to cheap ones they will last a lot longer.

The cheap cords I have and had, all of them break in one way or another.

The same is true with Planet Waves.

I've got a 15 footer Planet Waves with a mute switch that is very helpful, you don't have to worry about popping or anything when you unplug/plug things in.
