I recently found a free recording program, Audacity, online, and I figured I'd mess around with with it for a bit until I get Pro Tools working. This is a quick backing track I made, and an improvisation over it. It's in E Lydian, if you're wondering! tongue.gif I'm pretty excited, because now I can finally participate in some collaborations! biggrin.gif

Anyways, I didn't work too much on this, just recorded my first take, but it would still be nice to have some constructive criticism! Just wanted to give people something to laugh at... dry.gif Thanks!

Here's a cleaner version, with a lot of use of the volume pedal. tongue.gif

Thought I'd just add this here instead of creating a new post. Just me (attempting laugh.gif ) to play Muris' Van Halen lesson (and a little bit of messing around at the end... tongue.gif ). I messed up quite a bit, but this one turned out the best out of the ones I recorded. Since I don't have a whammy bar, I kind of had to improvise and do some slides and neck bending instead... Anyways, constructive criticism is appreciated, thanks! biggrin.gif I look really bored... probably just frustrated from so many recording attempts. smile.gif

Some of those licks are pretty cool. You should really try holding the pick between your index and thumb only though. I used to hold it like you are and after switching about a month ago, I've already seen improvement in my playing. It seems awkward at first but just give it a couple weeks and you won't even remember how to play the old way! wink.gif

Eddie Van Halen does it differently. He uses thumb and middle finger but it is all about what is comfortable. I changed my style from thumb and middle to thumb and index and it did help me. Nice licks also. I enjoyed listening to them.

Nice that sounded pretty cool, it sounded just right with the backing
the only thing I can really think of would be to maybe widen the range of notes like adding in some lower and higher notes to get variety
nice job
