Im said "what is the catch?" well it seems to need 2 new imput jacks. It buzzes some times but i dont know what that is. I also crackles when turned up to loud. PLEASE HELP. THanks in Advance, Andrew Mead

Might just need the input jacks need resoldering but it's probably well worth taking off to a good amp tech for a service anyway mate. Even after years of inactivity the tubes will slowly go so they might need replacing anyway.

Cheers,
Tony

Andrew, grats on the free grab!

The input jacks are inexpensive to have replaced by a tech.

The crackling is due to either old tubes or dirty volume pot or both. To test the tubes, lightly tap the tubes with a pencil while the amp is on and see if you here an echo through the speaker... if you do, they have become Microphonic and they need replaced. If it doesn't have tubes then it is most likely a volume pot... especially since it responds to turning the amp amp or down.

The hum is most likely bad Filter Capacitor(s). These are cheap to replace by a technician and often go bad after 10 or more years.

I'd guess a 50$ repair bill (unless you need tubes) and your good to go. Again, nice grab! biggrin.gif

Its a fender stage 160 with the two inputs. I cant find any pictures of it because its the older (better) model. The new model are weaker but cheaper. I Love mine and I might right a review for it, Maybe.
