Hello GMC'ers smile.gif I am new to this site and i would like to ask you what kind of lessons i should focus the most on. I have played for 3-4 months, and i want to play in the style of Metallica but also like DragonForce. Could you recommend any lessons?

Thanks for your time smile.gif

My advice is to look at the Trash Metal and Power Metal Lessons by Gabriel and also the Speed Metal Riffing by Pavel, that should be enough at first wink.gif
And for beginning of course the Heavy Metal for Beginner series by Pavel

Try the trash lessons, and do some riffing. Also practise alternate picking and make a daily routine out of it. Keep rockin man!

Welcome Frederik !! cool.gif

In addition to the great lessons mentioned above, I would recommend doing at least a few of Kris's 101 lessons to ensure you have some solid core concepts about things like how to practice, how to use a metronome, phraseing and improvising over a Pentatonic scale.

You can then specialize in the areas you wish to practice by useing any of the fab videos in our archive!! smile.gif

For Riffing there are dozens of great Lessons by Pavel, Gabriel, Juan and many more. Take advantage of the search facility here - its your friend wink.gif

I know it's a typo, but it's funny nonetheless. smile.gif

I also recommend the beginner's series as well. Pavel's Heavy Metal for Beginners is also good. Even though I've played off and on, I'm going through the beginner series to unlearn some bad habits and have a new solid foundation. Also a metronome is critical - just purchased one myself, and highly recommend using one if you don't already.

Welcome to GMC smile.gif

Matt pretty much hit the nail on the head with his post. But as Gerald mentions the beginner lessons are great and is where I recommend to start as well. I found they helped me correct some bad habits I had after playing for a few months with no real instruction and also helped me start a practice routine that I still follow today.

Excellent ! And remember, if your almost totally new to guitar this is a great gift as you have a blank canvas to paint with - and a good chance of being an original player! biggrin.gif
