Good day GMCers
Quick question...
I have noticed that many Floyd Rose whammy bar guitarists have the ability of sticking the whammy bar right where they like it, and it stays there. My whammy bar is very loose, and gravity ultimately wins the battle of where its going to be tongue.gif

How do I stick the whammy bar in a certain location for convenient use?

You'll need to put something under the bushings. I use D'addario string bags. You can also use teflon tape, but that doesn't work as well IMO. It doesn't last forever though, and the more you insert and remove your whammy bar the more the whammy bar will fall down.

If its a strat type where it screws in then theres not really a solution, you shouldnt screw the arm in too tight in case you strip the threads inside, I think you can buy from Fender a little spring that drops inside the whammy bar hole and as you tighten the arm it compress`s the spring making the arm stiffer (oo er)

If its a FR push in/pull out type then if you dive the strings there should be a little grub screw in line with the whammy bar underneath, might be a hexagen head, you`ll need to tighten that ever so slightly to stop it flopping about ( unsure.gif )

The other FR type has the nut that tightens up the whammy bar, you`ll just need to tighten that up in the position you want the bar, my Jackson has this last type and it does unscrew with use till its floppy (eek), theres a small little t-bar that the nut tightens on to (ouch), I put a tiny bit of grease inside there to reduce the friction, it helped a bit but I still have to give it a little tweak from time to time (tee hee). hope that helps a little.

Sorry about the inuendo`s wink.gif laugh.gif
