Hi!

Just wanted to start this thread about Guthrie, one of the greatest guitarists of our time! If you have ever heard/seen his playing, you can immediately tell he has full control over the instrument. He uses lots of chromatic notes and tapping in his playing, and many lighting-fast alternative picking passages. From the videos I've seen he also is a funny guy, for example watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnOV7iKR1vE

He's songwriting I think is also very unique, he incorporates strong melodies and fast shredding into fusion rock/jazz/blues songs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=572wB3YS3xg I think this video is a great example of his songwriting.

So, what do you guys think about him???

I love his style, i love his playing on Bad Asteroid. The phrasing is excellent, and his tone is so smooth.

Guthrie Govan is one of the most interesting new guitar players for me. He is an amazing composer and his technique is incredible. I listen his solo album very often.

Yeah, I love to listen to it also, great songs and great songwriting. He has a real talent for making interesting songs, and he doesn't ruin them by just "overshredding". There are really good melodies that stay in your head for a long time.

I absolutely love Guthrie! He is one of my favourite guitarist right now.
I would love to have someone do a lseeon in his style.. Maybe I'll try sometime, but it will be hard...
When I think about his solos I see a lot of chromatic licks...

Yeah, he is a really good player. But I in my opinion his improvisations are the best. It's amazing how he can jam over a track... Guthrie kicks ass !!! tongue.gif
