I too love Santana, listend a lot his older music. I dont think that Smooth is among his best songs tough. His biggest songs and hits were definately Europe, Black Magic Woman, and album Abraxas. He is truly a master of guitar and developed his tone to that extent that anyone can recognise it. Great legend indeed.

A great guitar player, but I think his new stuff with all the pop-singers isn't all that good, but I like his earlier albums very much! smile.gif

Santana is great indeed.
Guitarist,composer,guitar icon,all top notch smile.gif
Many don't like him a lot cause of his unshred orientation
but he really has tone, grip AND wonderful melodies under his fingers. wink.gif

QUOTE ("Steve Vai")
Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman.

"Hold On", has a great solo in it. I cannot remember which album it is from. It was out in the early 80's.

Hey guys, check these other videos of Carlos Santana with other artists...

Cry Baby Cry - Santana ft. Sean Paul

yeah, Sean Paul... i was surprised when i saw the title but i gave the video a look. I really like Santana's playing, great as always, about Sean Paul.. well i really dont like him but still the song is not bad. I really like the golden stuff floating around Santana when he is playing the guitar, makes it seem more magical biggrin.gif

Maria Maria - Santana ft. The Wraith

this one i really liked, Santana's acoustic playing is great in this song as well as his electric playing. The other dudes make the song really good as well, ive never heard of The Wraith tho, but i think this song is good.

I've always heard how good he was but I just started getting into him myself. I was jamming with a friend a few weeks ago who's really into both classic rock and spanish classical guitar, and he had me learn the first 30 seconds or so of Corazon Espinado, and I've been wanting to learn more. His stuff is really fun to play.

Edit: I saw he did a song with Steven Tyler on the back of some compilation CD but I couldn't remember the name until now. Check it out, the guitar work's awesome of course but the lyrics and the video are also pretty interesting.

wow that was really good, i liked the song, and the video too, but after the car accident, i felt like the video lacked a conclusion or something...
