I see descs. for chord generators all the time ( you know, plug in the name of the chord and it pops it out ), but what I want to know is if anyone knows of a site that you could do the exact opposite of this...plug in the notes, and the chord name pops out. I'm working on a song that has a really weird tuning...and I want to know the name of the chords that I am using, it has a partial capo...from the 6th to the 4th strings, with the other two left open, in standard. Someone help?

Thanks.

There is actually that kind of generator - its Guitar Pro 5 .Just type the notes you play in that chord as a new tab, just write them in one vertical raw as you would normally in tab.Click with your mouse pointer to select that raw , go up to "Note" tab and than click "Chord" ...It will display you hopefully what is that chord and variations of it..Remember to transpose a guitar track to your tuning before you start this!! (Track>properties)

Cheers mate !

Yeah the GP is useful, although it does give you some rather hilarious alternative names for chords sometimes. Like play a G7 and it will tell you that it can also be called a Badd13-/5-
To be fair, you're gonna call it a G7 aren't you? biggrin.gif
